Well, I was suspicious of the post as a troll...but it's entirely possible that a variety of personal issues are simply manifesting.
So...good on ya, OP, for your wise decision.
Door locks are cheaper than guns.
And despite all the fearmongering, I wonder how infinitesimally small the percentage of actual "saved by my gun" events actually is compared to the number of guns here in the US. Civvies, not LEOs, military, private security, etc.
And without getting into "it" with the OP, I daresay based on just a few years of top level experience in emergency medicine--most of it in a huge urban university hospital system--there are some "clues" in the post that suggest at least the potential for having, um, incorrectly answered some of the questions on the firearms purchase questionnaire (have you ever been treated for condition xyz, have you ever used illicit drugs, etc). Doesn't suggest whatsoever any need for closer purchase scrutiny...hmmm.
