I am trying to post pics out of my new Kodak DX4600 digital camera. I tried to attatch them to this post but it says that the file is to big. How can I shrink the file? Also can some one tell me the secret for posting a pic directly to my post? please help. Thank you all for your help.

Mods, I am sorry for the post on the handgun forum. I had intend to post a picture of my Kimber and some how messed up.

Go to the Technical Support forum and click on the "Image Matters" thread.

I want a digital camera..............

If you want, email a few of the better ones to me, I'll resize them, clean them up and host them for you so you'll have something to show until you figure things out.

Your camera probably has a setting called "email photos" or similar. They will be around 60-70K as opposed to 250-300K and will be uploadable straight to THR server from your windows photos directory. HTH

Or you can download Irfanview from www.irfanview.com. It's a very simple, very basic image editor program that you can use to both shrink the pictures down in size and compress them so the file is smaller. It's very quick once you know how to do it. Open an image, click on the 'Image' menu, click 'Resize/Resample' then enter the size you want it to be. For posting on messageboards and whatnot I usually make the longest side of the photo 800 pixels. If you adjust width the height will self-adjust to retain correct proportions and vice-versa. Then if you want to compress it go to 'File' then 'Save as' and then before you save set the 'Save Quality' to the right of the save box to a lower number. I often choose 75 or so for internet posting. Good luck!

I have always used ACDSee. I am not a big fan of their latest release mostly because it is getting too damn big. IRFan is good program as well.

I was going to post a picture but then after posting it I decided against it and so since couldn't delete the post in it entirety had to put the little "." becuase the field could not be left blank.

I appologize if my post offended anyone. Maybe we should have the moderators ban using the term "." :D (sorry, bad joke)

Glock Talk

The nice thing about http://www.glocktalk.com/
I or anyone can post their pictures without all the net policing and the hassle of reading more then I ever wanted to know about digital photo posting. If I wanted to learn digital camera geek I would go to a digital camera forum.
