I figured out which is the best gun for TEOTWAKI.........

It is the one you have with you.

Really, it is.

I was reading an article on survival knives and it said the same thing. The best knife is the one you have with you. The most gadgety knife in the world is useless if it is at home.

Same with guns.

If TEOTWAKI hits and all I have with me is my single shot 22 rifle then it is my best gun. ( sure would be tough for killin zombies but awesome for squirrels)

Very interesting thought. I remember 911. I had a handgun in my car, but don't remember which. Probably no more than 30 rds of ammo. I was many miles from home and thankful that I did not have to face a SHTF scenario now that I look back on it. Have not really upgraded since. Have not thought about it till this thread, but a Mini 14 or Ranch Rifle with scope and an ammo can of ammo socked away in the vehicle may make sense. I don't favor .223, but the Mini 14 is short and large quantiies of ammo would fit in an ammo can. A M1A may be my first choice, but a Mini 14 is much more practical.

I almost forgot to add that I just finished a plain jane A1/A2 AR 20" that I plan to keep stashed in my personal vehicle with a G26 Glock and a small bug out bag.
