I got it right this time

Cap n Ball revolvers are my favorite. The 1851 can't be denied.
I have a Piette .44 Marsall. I've given away many 1851 navies to 'spread the disease'.

Pulp,
I could see ya flip yer hand to flick off a hot cap. The curse of being right handed. No problem for us lefties.
What load were you using? The gun actually kicked. My Navies kick but they're 44s (I know, but I like to knock things over in SASS matches).
Hellgate

Been out of town a couple of days. It's a .36 caliber Navy. I was using a 30 grain spout on my flask, so actual weight was probably around 27 grains. It leaves just enough room to fully seat the bullet and hold a good squirt of Bore Butter.

I've only had this gun about a year and haven't gotten to shoot it very much, but it is rapidly becoming my favorite.

Point of aim? You want me to answer that question? I reckon it's pretty close, I could see dust kick up in the general vicinity of where I was aiming.:)

BTW, the cap did not blister my hand, but I definitely knew it was there. I've had them blister my palm in SASS matches. It's hard to shoot and cry at the same time.

Ahh you're using full charges, no wonder it's kicking. I would think it would shoot very high with those loads, but I haven't tried it myself.

I've always heard, but never verified, that the lighter charges shoot higher, due to the bullet being in the barrel a bit longer as the barrel rises. It's also supposed to be true with heavy bullets compared to lighter bullets.

My normal load in the .36 us 17.5 777 fffg. That is supposed to emmulate 20 grains of real bp. The recoil is negligible, and it hits POA (It's a Uberti btw)

I tried 20 grs of 777 (emmulating 23 grs of real powder) and it was starting to hit a few inches higher at a range of about 12 yards. I could really feel an increase in recoil from just that tiny load increment.

I think if I went any higher load the thing would be shooting way higher, but maybe POA at 75 yards... (haven't tried, I'm not that good of a shot anyways)
