Thought I would share this for future submitters of a form 1 for an SBR

I got an envelope in the mail yesterday from the DOJ, I got very excited thinking it was my anticipated tax stamp.... it was not. Instead there were my original form 1's with a letter. The letter stated that I could not list multiple calibers in box 4h, here is what I had verbatum in box 4h

(My Name) Trust (My City) TX SBR .30cal 223 CAL: MULTI

The reason I put the CAL: MULTI is because it is engraved on the lower from the manufacturer and box 4h says to put any identifying features in that box. I spoke with the agent this morning and he informed me that there cant be ANY calibers in that box, even if they are engraved on the lower from the original manufacturer. Apparently all they want in that box is your name or trust name and city/state. I asked if the "SBR" was ok and he said thats fine. Here is the corrected 4h that is acceptable according to the agent:

(My Name) Trust (My City) TX SBR

Hopefully Im only a few short weeks away from getting the real thing returned!!

They changed their mind about this while a lot were still "pending" My last pair came back for the same reason, they turned it around in a week door to door when I sent in the corrections.

Every case I know of where a simple correction had to be made, the turn-around was very quick. When did your check clear?

Mike

I cant remember when the check cleared but IIRC I sent it all in late Jan / early Feb. Almost exactly a 6 month wait if the approved stamp gets back in a few weeks

Texas seems to have lucked out with one of the more efficient examiners, If your corrections have been done correctly and have been mailed out, I predict you will have your stamp by this time next week. That's how it worked for me, twice :(

I have not included anything in my Box 4H and it has been fine. I will continue to not include anything in the box in the future.

as to Texas lucking out on a good examiner, our luck may have changed. Sara Jones was our girl for a good while and she was terrific. Easy to work with, fast, efficient etc. She is now not doing them anymore and its Jason Bowers. He is probably getting used to the job and all, but i think its going to take some time before he is as good as Sara was. Just an FYI.

Bummer, really sad to hear this. Although I did find Jason Bowers helpful, and he actually returned my phone call, after he found, and objected to an obvious typo in my Trust that two different examiners had missed (or ignored) all three were form 1. After a quick trip to the lawyer, I had my stamp within a week door-to-door, but this was back when things were running about 3-4 months.

Sucks to hear Sara is gone. She was real helpful with a stamp earlier this year. I'll try my luck in a few months with Jason.

Its been almost 4 weeks since I returned it with corrections and still waiting. I will probably call in the morning and make sure they got it back.

I just got a correction (a really silly one) for the address of the trust.
Trust Name
c/o My Name, Grantor and Trustee
My Street
My Town, AZ #####
They wanted me to draw a line through the c/o line, initial, and return.

When I went to the post office to send back certified I filled out a form to add Trust Name as an entity receiving mail at my address to prevent delivery issues.

Correcton form was dated the 23rd and it arrived in today's mail so seven days wasted :(

Hopefully soon. Did the OP get his stamps yet???

I am in Houston as well and I am submitting some paperwork for a few cans. Who did your trust and what was the typo (if you don't mind me asking)?

Still nothing :( .... any day now though Im hoping

The typo was on the form 1 for the SBR not the trust. I had multiple calibers in box 4h, apparently all they want in that box is name/name of trust and city, state

We have a pre-paid legal plan at work, I used a lawyer from their network. Typically, he made the Trust with a really long name. I had him shorten it dramatically to reduce the engraving required before filing it. They made a typo in the body when changing the name in one place. We all missed it as did the previous two other examiners.
