I got tasered and sprayed today!

I was doing a security guard class today and part of it was to get tasered and sprayed. It was both voluntary of course, but we all lined up like sheep to do it anyway :)

The taser i got shocked with was the M26, that yellow looking gun taser that shoots out the two darts. You guys know what i'm talking about? And the papper spray that was used on me was MSI: Knockout.

If i had a choice, i would take the pepper spray any day of the week of the taser. I mean, my God! That taser was painful! The instructor said to us, "ya you'll feel a mild discomfort", like hell it was mild. hehe

And the kicker was that i was only hit by a 1 second burst that seemed a hell of a lot longer than that.

The pepper spray used was that foam stuff that just made this 'thwack!' kinda noise on our face that i'll never forget, and the eye burning was not so bad as the part where it burned the hell outta my noise. That was bad. We got to wash this stuff off soon after though, and we were in a controled enviroment.

Pitty the criminal who gets sprayed with this stuff in the field and has no immediate way to releave the pain.

Anyways, so i gotta question for you guys, for those of you who have been sprayed and shocked....or not.


If you had a choice, would you rather get:

Shocked or Sprayed?

I've never had either but it seems like they both suck. Maybe I'd rather take a footer to the nads.

Never been shocked, but I was sprayed for a training class. All I know is that I'd never liked to be sprayed again... I'm out of the security business so hopefully I'll never get schocked at all. ;)
 
Well i've been kicked in the nuts before. I'd say that is worse than getting sprayed, but deffiently not worse then the shocking.

I was sprayed with CS and Pepper, and tried the cloud of CN, CS, and OC from tear gas pistols.

The pepper was the most painful, as it "burned thru" my lungs:-((

The CN as it was the lightest concentraion wasn't so bad.

The other thing, that it is absolutely different feeling of a direct hit or just a breath from the material.
 
Well being in school, I get punched or kicked down there quite often.. (a common prank is called the ball tap..... hurts more than the tap in hte name implies). I found it builds character... probably compensating for the character of the kids I'l never have now :banghead:
 
It's fairly subjective...

I'm an instructor with both, and my observation has been that people at my agency are split down the middle. About half of the people that I have for classes think the Taser hurts worse. Myself, I'd rather get hit with the Taser. At least when its over, its over. OC is the gift that keeps on giving. Outside the classroom, I work really hard to avoid both.
 
Well, I'd rather neither happened to me, but I have been sprayed. Not fun, but I love spicy food. (I'm eating a Thai green curry dish as I type this) It might not stop me if I were attacking someone armed with it, but I'd really rather not find out. (Good think I don't go about attacking people!:D) I was gassed with CS in Basic, and irritant is a good choice of words. It would be hard to aim a rifle was tear-filled eyes.
 
Having messed around a bit with sorta big stunguns, uh, twice, I would still take Tasering over evil sprays, even in the context of no experience with said sprays.

Now, noting that Tasers are a world apart from stunguns, (But in a similar vein.) and also that I want no part of any Taser I don't volunteer for, it's the duration thing that sells me.

Tasers last a second, or seconds, at most. Horrible, unendurable seconds, but seconds all the same. Then yer done.

Pepper spray can last for HOURS. :eek: Thank you, no.
 
I have been through the OC, then got the Taser Shield, for ?????'s and
g!ggles, it wasn't to bad, we have another little tool we use on transports, it's called the bandit, it's a taser on a belt straps to inmates back, and is operated by remote control, last 8 seconds, and has an audible warning that will tell the inmate if he doesn't stop mis-behaving he will be shocked, works great.
 
I've heard mention that BGs sometimes develop a tolerance to pepper sprays? Is that common? How often do these guys have to get sprayed for that to happen?
(Is anyone here tolerant?)
Intentionally developing a tolerance would be make for a neat party trick, and be awfully impressive when talking to anti's who think you should only have spray. :D

you can build up a tolerence to CS or CN, but not OC.
 
I have had quite a few electrical shocks in my life ranging from the a television to a car battery and from my time in the army I have had my share of CS gas so I think I would wrather be tazed than gassed or sprayed. I deal better with pain than I do with nagging irritation. that may sound weird, but I would wrather have a cut than a rash. thats just me
:D
 
Been tasered and had CS a few times in the military in controlled circumstances.
Not fun, but I'm still kicking.
Never gotten a snootful of OC, though.
Guess if I'll be carrying it I'd better have some documented, realistic training with the dreaded Pepper Spray. (oh, goody...)
Does it really make you wanna "Run away from your face"?

Edit- Oh, nevermind, just read a few more OC threads on the front page- effects appear to be somewhat subjective.
 
Been hit by backspray of Fox and Bodyguard.

Been taser accidently by my modified-soupedup taser x26.
Felt like getting a electric shock, couldn't do anything..kinda dazed.

Tasers good for stopping someone sometimes, but it must be followed up by OC pepperspray or some other method to mame/disable the subject.

I got a friend at a stainless steel mill to make me a GG a-like teeth adapter for my Tigerlight. i'm experimenting with modifying a Taser X26's electrical circuits and adding a higher voltage battery to increase shockpower output.
 
ive taserd myself before. not fun but alright.

havent done the oc yet. my friend did by accident and never wants to go through that agian.

i saw a vid once where a guy with peirced nipples got zapped on the peircings. it was funny as hell
