I have had trouble with it jamming on slugs, and while I was at the shot show last week I had a chance to talk to Benelli factory reps. One of them said that the Benelli was rate at firing 1 1/8 oz loads, and since the standard slug was 1 oz., that would cause it to jam (he also said the sabot slugs would definitely cause a jam). He said that I could get 1 1/4 oz slugs which would solve the problem.

2 questions: one - are there 1 1/4 oz slugs out there, and two - has anyone else had this problem and solved it by going to 1 1/4 oz slugs?

This is a stock M1, no shot shell holders on the receiver or anything like that.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

My Benelli has choked using Federal Tactical slugs which are about 1 oz and 1200 fps. I've never had a problem with full power slugs. I shoot in shotgun tactical matchs and use Fiocchi White Rino bird shot which is 1-1/8 oz x 1250 fps and have zero problems. Looking for a slug which is 100% without the recoil of a full powered slug, I load Lyman 525 gr (1.2 oz) sabots @ 1250 fps.

My benelli has eaten both full house and light trap loads with the factory spring. If you want to keep shooting the lighter load just buy a lighter spring for it.
