The case stuck in die club, to be exact.

I processed a bunch of brass fired yesterday, and my first thought it was some range stuff I picked up. But no, some Nosler, prob fired once, no more than twice.

Real stuck to where 1/2 extractor rim pulled off.

Went to inter-web, got instructions, and off to Lowes for tap and die deal

"Sorry sir, we don't carry thread tapping tools. You know, I have been here less than a month and you are the fourth person to ask about them."

***?

Thank God for online shopping.

I know I lubed the case, just don't know what happened.

Well, yeah, they do. I've bought them there. They don't carry whole sets, but they'll sell you a drill bit and tap in a blister pack together. In the drill bit aisle.

The other option is a steel rod slipped into the top of the die and driven out with a hammer. IF you can get the decapping pin/expander die out the top.

That should have been the key to ask someone who had been at the store a bit longer.

1/4-20 taps are very common and just about every hardware store should carry them.

My first and only stuck case (knock on wood) was on a Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, I have a good shop but i spent the rest of the afternoon fabricating a piece that would fit in the ram of the press to remove the errant case.

Of course, the die was a custom made resizing die for an obsolete cartridge.

Hope you get the case out without problems.

I know they are on their web site. We may have the world's worst Lowes. I can't get expander out, got ot go in through she'll base.

That was my fault. I looked and looked, just did not see any, then looked and looked for a hardware associate. Frustrating. In fact had ordered a take out pizza and set pickup based on a seven minute. Figured it would be in and out.

I've come close to sticking one a couple times back in my early days of reloading. But because I didn't stop the ram in mid stroke, probably had something to do with it not seizing up.

But ever since my close calls, I now spend a bit more time making sure i lube all the necessary spots. I don't think it has as much to do with how much lube you use, but more about making sure all contact areas get a thin film, other than the shoulder that is.
