I stuck a .30-06 case just now, and then popped it out with the homestyle stuck case extractor. I was setting up the sizing die and doing repeated incremental sizing and I guess I ran out of lube on the case. It went so smooth compared to the first time I stuck one, that it occurred to me that a how-to might be useful so that people don't think that they need to order a kit or send off the die. The technique didn't pop up on the first page of search results for "Stuck Case."

1. Take a deprimed case with you to ACE hardware.
2. Find a drill bit, tap, and allen bolt that fit the size of the primer pocket. Mine is a #7 bit for Large Rifle, the tap is a 1/4 20NC.
3. Grab a couple of washers to fit the bolt that are big enough to keep it from falling into a socket. I used a 14mm 3/8" drive socket, but anything about the size of the end of the die will work.
4. Unscrew the decapping assembly, you won't be able to take it out of the die, but it should be able to fall out of the way.
5. Put the die in a padded vise, stuck case up, decapping assembly hanging loose.
6. Drill through the primer pocket, tap the hole.
7. Put the socket on the end of the die as a spacer, washers on top, screw in the bolt.
8. Gently tighten the bolt until it pulls the case out.
9. If there is enough rim left, you can use that to pull the case off the end of the decap assembly using your press.
10. Clean out all the brass bits and you're done.

I was back in business in about 10 minutes.

Ha!

Actually I use RCBS. I was setting up the sizer for a new rifle. Size, check for bolt closure, repeat...

After the fourth try, the rim popped off. Oops. Probably should have re-lubed.
