Good work preachnhunt. I think you did everything exactly right. I'm glad you have a door alarm so you knew when the guy came in!

Based on what some others have posted, are there still churches somewhere whose doors are always unlocked? Every church I've been to in the last ten years not only locks it's doors but has a monitored alarm system.

If our times have made even the church unsafe, then there's probably nothing left to fight for.

Well, I guess there's nothing left to fight for. Darn.

So the good pastor did exactly what he should have, is what you're saying?

i never said the pastor did anything wrong

i was simply saying that saying that "all are welcome" and "usually" locking the door seems disingenuous

maybe not always, i think they lock the doors when everyone turns in. but i know several churches that open their doors at 6 in the morning (for the pre-work visitors) and keep them open untill well after dark.

i've seen the buzzer/chime sensors on the doors, i figured the staff might be spritual but not psychic, so i'm not surprised when someone does come out to greet me.

i think it's very restrained when they don't mention my wearing a gun either

Oddball scenario....but it's a great thing that you did listen to the guy, despite your apprehensions. Helping others is divine, but not at the cost of your hide. Be on the lookout for wolves in sheeps clothing, but don't run off any lambs in mistake either.

Seriously, I would have been looking for cameras for some weird prank TV show.
