Any thoughts on trapping possums?
I don't trap them, no help here. I try not to trap skunks but get a few in the wire trap. I do have a poison I use for them, it works on possums too. The last time I thought I had a skunk in my shop I mixed it up and had a dead possum the next morning. At first I thought I had pack rats moved in again. My rat poison (1 bite bars) was getting eaten on a daily basis. The last time they ate up the wiring in my boat and I had to rewire it 3 times before I got rid of them. Normally moth balls keep the field mouse out but not the rats.

Here in Arkansas, the squirrely-gig is common. This is a simple stand, kind of like a saw horse with a bolt sticking out. The bolt goes through a hole in a 1X2, which has a short arm and a long arm. On the end of the short arm is a hunk of 2X4 as a weight. On the end of the long arm is a spike, and you put a corn cob on the spike.

The squirrel tries to get up to the corn cob, unbalances the thing, and suddenly spins him off. I've seen a squirrel thrown a dozen feet off one of these things. You can't buy better entertainment!
You guys are just mean!

We have an ex/part-time employee that would live on squirrel and catfish if he could catch enough to feed himself everyday, perhaps the OP should contact him. The old guy has forgotten more about trapping squirrels than most people ever knew. I won't mention his incredible patience and discipline in sitting motionless for hours on end waiting for one of the creatures to come in range of his air rifle.

If you look at my videos in #14 they are getting inline to get to the corn.

Not like we are making them dance on a hot plate (or just shooting them for that matter)...

Its cheap entertainment....

There are 1000's of utube video on what people have done to keep them out of feeders. There is one guy that uses a clay thrower and launches them a very long ways....
