Life is interesting, longer one lives the more experiences and observations one has. I guess I am fortunate to have been one to be Attracted to a certain kind of folks; I call these ladies and gents - Mentors & Elders.

I wanted they had. "Had" being the way they carried themselves in the real world. Real world included firearms, and shotguns of course.

Promotions , tend to feel like cramming something down one's throat. Makes one want to bow up and be rebellious.

I am a rebel and therefore more receptive toward this Attraction bit.

Not as many offerings in shotguns and ammo, any firearm for that matter number of years ago. Folks found what fit them, learned to shoot. Take a look at some older stories that were written, most times the name of the gun and all not even mentioned, except some times the gauge.

Smoothly but quickly the lady mounted shotgun to face and painted the dove out of sky...

More current stories have too much emphasis on make, model doo-dads, parts numbers, where to get them - and by the time one gets this far they have to go back a few pages to recall the plot, and what the heck the shotgun was being used for.

Guess that is why I and others still read Ruark, Cory Ford, Hemingway...

Some of us just shooting the bull, speaking of older times brought these thoughts to mind:

"Going backwards on this entire Shotgun, firearm stuff it seems..."
"Not really, we stayed with the Correct Basic Fundamentals. Can't really go back, if you never went forward to leave something behind"
"Remember the THE start of The Equipment race?"
“Yeah, I remember..."

See we knew some were not going to forget how raised, they knew how to shoot, and they wanted to make a little money, play some games and are the ones that really did change the nature of things. These same folks would beat one like a drum using a bone stock shotgun against the latest and greatest. Some still living, still will...

Gun fit, bone stock meant less to mess with reliable.
Learning correct basic fundamentals, and continuing to train and practice these.
Heck we shot more in week than some in a year. We shot more in a year, than some will ever shoot in a lifetime.
Dropped more shells than some have ever actually bought, much less put in a shotgun.

"We just don't care I suppose"
"Oh we care, just we don't get wrapped around the axle, never did"
" <chuckle> I knew Awerbuck a smart feller, anyone that uses a two barrel gun for serious work, gotta be smart..."

Oh just a bunch of us ladies and gents, with various bone stock semi's, pumps, SxS, O/U's and even Single Shot guns, we use for everything.
Make, model, gauge, don't make a bit of difference, just a tool, give us one with ammo and we will make the tool work.

<cell phone rings>

"Daughter got her a deer this morning with that single shot 20 gauge with a slug"
"What'd she get?"
"How big?"

"Said it was brown, fit in the bed of the truck, and its head scratched the bed a bit."

"She gonna take care of it?"

"She can, ain't gonna. Old boy gonna do all that and all - she is going to do his books." Works out fine for the both that way...
