Okay, before this thread gets firebombed, let me be clear: yes, they're cheap and plastic and not classically styled. They often need some tuning before they're ready for prime-time.

That said, Kel-Tec has a lot of clever weapons that could definitely find a place in my arsenal.

The P-3AT (and P32) is just ridiculously small. I can tuck it in the back pocket of my jeans, in the inside pocket of a sportcoat, or even (and yes, this is something I'm working on) inside a laptop. The NAA Mini-Revolver is smaller, but not as thin. You can even add a clip to it and stick it inside your waistband, or alternatively there are several solutions that allow one form or another of extremely discreet shoulder carry (including underneath a dress shirt). If your job has you wearing "business casual," this may be your best (and even only) option for on-person carry.

The SUB-2000 is a great complement for a wide range of pistols, including Glocks and Beretta 92s. It folds up and can be put in a backpack, briefcase, behind a truck seat, or even slung under a jacket. With the high-capacity mags it can be a powerful choice for those who want to use only one type of bullet and mag for both pistol and carbine.

The SU-16 is just as stowable as the SUB-2000, takes AR mags, is extremely light, and even comes with an (admittedly less-than-perfect) integrated bipod. Lighter than a Ruger, it's a decent back-up to your AR-15.

The PLR-16...well, it's something that I have to imagine will be regulated in the next gun ban. It's a "pistol" which takes AR mags, can be put wherever a SUB-2000 can be, and comes with an upper rail (and the easily purchased shroud includes a bottom rail). It's a great candidate for Class III upgrades, and I'd love to have one with a Grip-Pod and a silencer.

I like that the weapons have a lifetime warranty, that they're coming out with innovative "niche" firearms which do more than wink-and-nod at the law like sketchier manufacturers, and that they're Made in the USA.

Sorry to rave, but I'm just impressed with these and what you get for the price. My USPc is my first choice, but I'd be willing to trust my life to my Kel-Tec if it came down to it.

I think I'm going to buy one of those tiny pistols for the horrible summers here.

I can deal with discomfort, but sometimes the 100 degree heat, along with the 97 percent humidity gets to you

It was a toss up between the kel-tec or high point.Kel-tec wins out, glock 19 mags I already have, so............

They are cheap and plastic, but my little P32 was 100% reliable right from day one.

It's a great little hideaway gun. Sure, it's just a .32, but it definitely beats a pointy stick for self defense.

I contacted kel tec and they will pay shipping both ways withine the first 6 months if you have a problem.
I saved the e mail because I am going to buy a .380

I've never heard of a 6 month limit to their paying shipping both ways.

Having said that, I've never had to return a Kel-Tec. All 4 Kel-Tecs I've owned so far, have worked just fine with no tinkering, just a good cleaning out of the box.

A USP .45c is also my first choice, but in the summer, I usually carry a PF-9 with a P-3AT back up.

I have a PLR-16, it's fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate at 100 yards, i've ran close to 2000 rounds through it with no major problems

The Kel Tec in your pocket is a better gun than the SIG in your safe.*
*I'm paraphrasing from someone else's quote, but it was something like that.

My P11 disappears into even a summer outfit, and was never pretty so I don't have to worry about it getting scratched, plus 11 rounds of 9mm JHP feels pretty good. So far it's been 100% reliable, and accurate enough considering the sight radius.

I think my P3AT is one of the best firearms ever made for deep concealment. And their customer service is A++ to boot!

:)

Ket-Tecs are not cheap. They are inexpensive. They are plastic so that they are light. Plastic is your friend. They are a no-frills weapon closely built to serve a very specific mission: to be easily carried concealed to preserve and protect human life. The design is clever and efficient. Ruger sure liked it.

Yep, they sure did, didn't they (Ruger in B&W)...........

I am in the high heat, high humidity camp. I am also in the camp of belief that a .32 or .380 is not enough to stop a threat. I chose the P-11 and carry it with the Remy gold bullet with the greeeaat big hollow point. :D

I have a pocket holster and more recently am becoming very fond of a 'tuckable' IWB holster from Grandfather Oak that I carry SOB. I just wish that it had interchangable straps of black and brown leather... the black plastic one does tend to stand out a bit.

KT's customer service is so good because they've had so much experience by now. I had a first gen P3AT that KT could never get to run reliably (and admitted it) and I was NOT limp wristing it, either. Because even the KT employees were having problems shooting it, they had to send me an entirely new first gen P3AT and that one runs just OK, but I never shoot it anymore and would never trust it for carry duty. Again, great customer service, but KT had to eat the ENTIRE cost of a new pistol and several shipping charges as well. Not to mention the labor they had to pay for doing extensive work on that lemon.

I bit the bullet again on a 2nd gen P3AT and, while it's running pretty well...for now, I had to work on it and it took several trips back to KT to get it to that point. Never again will I buy a KT pistol even though my P11 has been reliable. It just has the absolutely most horrible trigger I've ever seen on a pistol. The new PF-9 is still in its infancy stage and is suffering all kinds of problems, too. Just take a look at the PF-9 forum over at Ktog.org. :uhoh: I'll be keeping my eye on this new Ruger, thank you very much! :D

Heh, good one. :D Seriously, that's the ONLY Kel-Tec pistol to date that I'd even consider buying just for the coolness factor. Completely useless, but über cool...

tribal - you have convinced youself that this is the gun you want thats all that counts. i know nothing about them so i cant advise you but others before me said good thing. my point is, you are a smart guy, i have seen some of your posts , they are well thought out and articulate, if you want to go this route -go ahead and good luck just practice enough to be sure

I'm still waiting on KT's .308. Any recent mention of it?

That new Ruger is amazingly similar to the KT. Wonder if Ruger is paying royalties, or if KT will sue. It's close enough for one or the other, from the blown apart drawings.

My P11 was totally reliable, but loosed up so much I'm afraid to shoot it anymore. I put several thousand rounds through it, and figure I got my money's worth.

My (2nd gen) P3AT has been 100% since day 1. Gold dots, hydro-shoks, FMJ... that's about all I've tried I guess. Not 1 issue. It's the perfect gun for when I can't really carry a gun...
