I love Ruger Blackhawks, so I added a new one.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

All I did was scroll through the thread and now I want one!

(blue with white grips...)

Enjoy your beautiful guns. I sense one of these in my future...

Arkansas Paul:
You probably already know this.... but my older model .357 BH is the same gun as the .45colt BH. It just has smaller holes.
I'll bet my 4 5/8" .357 weighs as much as my 7 1/2" .45colt BH (or nearly so).

FWIW

You guys have some fine Blackhawks. I love to see the different grips. I hear you about the new plastic grips that they are supplying now, not fond of them at all.
The Ruger website only shows those plastic grips on all their new models.
I was torn between the .44 and the .41 mag, but after trying to find ammo, I decided on the .44, there is more ammo available, right now anyway.
I'll eventually add .44 caliber to my reloading list.
Thanks to everyone for sharing their photos... keep 'em coming!

I really don't understand why someone would have two Blackhawks.

I have three. :D

.357 and .44mag Aniversary Flattops, and a Lipsey's Bisley .44mag.

What kbbailey said is true. The .357 is a great gun to shoot, solid as an anvil, but handles a little like one too. The .44mag Anniversary gun, even with a longer barrel, is more of a joy to point.

I bought my one a few months ago too, foxtail. Wow. Just...Wow....

What more could I say?

I've since pretty much standardized on the Skeeter load (7.5 grs. of Unique) or more than that, 7.5 grs. of Alliant 20/28. With either the 429421 or RCBS 44-250 KT, both weighing 260 grs., velocities run between 950 and 975 fps.

I kinda bastardized my 44 Magnum. It is a stainless SBH, but I put the monogrips on it. I could not shoot the XR3 Red grips accurately at all. With the bigger grip where I can really grip and control the revolver it shoots nicely for me.
I really want to put the classic western look back on the gun, but I will end up getting a Lipsey .44 Special BlackHawk for my .44 range fun.

I spent about an hour staring about both the stainless .44 Mag and the .44 Lipsey SPC when I bought the .44 Mag. I bought it the day my son was born. I wanted to pass on a .44 Magnum to him is basically what it came down to. If I'd had the money I would have bought both.

One of the reasons I bought my .44 Special Flattop was because I really enjoyed reading Skeeter Skelton's stories in Shooting Times magazine. He really touted the .44 Special and as such turned me into a fan of the cartridge as well.

I'm with Bannockburn on this one. My "Skeeter tribute revolver" is a flattop Bisley Blackhawk with 4 5/8 inch barrel.

After regrettably selling a 45LC/45acp years ago I just bought this .357/9mm.

340PD: I like your convertible. I got a used one years ago and had a gunsmith rebore the 9mm cylinder to .357/44 Bain & Davis. I killed a doe with it ... some fun!

Yours is a lot prettier than mine.

Yep, I used to read the Skeeter articles too.

Have yall had any trouble with lead bullets in the 45 colt? I have read about cylinders being bored to .451 and barrels to .452causing accuracy troubles.

I've heard it too, but I think its overhyped and not nearly as common as folks would make you think. I bought mine new and while I've not measured the cylinder throats, it will shoot a ragged hole with my own cast 255 grain SWC boolits.
