My Hogue monogrip needs some hand fitting and I don't want to screw it up. These grips cost a pretty penny and rather than ham fist my way through with a file any one have a recommendation?

Seems like I need to remove a teeny bit where the grip meets the frame behind the trigger so the grip can rotate forward slightly. Right now the frame is protruding about 1/16 of an inch past the wood at the bottom ... with the way this pony kicks that's a bad spot for a sharp edge.

This grip is my birthday present so, please if you have someone Denver Metro/Front Range you'd recommend let me know.

Common sense tells me in order to fit that grip to your revolver, metal will need to be removed. I don't think I would go that direction.

If it was the other way around where you needed to remove wood than that is a no brainier.

Nice grips by the way, but please don't grind that nice revolver it will never be the same and you want be happy.

For me that would be getting out a very sharp chisel and taking just a little out of the channel where the bottom of the butt resides to let the grip rotate forward and try to absorb that rear corner. Then I think the whole thing would fit a bit better, though you always might end up with some re-shaping to make the wood meet the metal correctly, and then refinishing.

It isn't terribly difficult work, but it will go a lot better with the right tools and some experience.

You're in Centennial, take it by Bowers Tactical and ask Rob about it. There's gunsmiths all over Denver, take your pick of any EXCEPT GUNSMOKE! There's a guy not far from me here in Parker between Lincoln and E-470, can't think of his name offhand, he's a good bet. LMK if you need more info.
