Sling loop on the SpecOps

Hi kraigster414!

I saw a pic of this weapon of yours on shotgunworld.com and I was admiring the sling loop you have on your SpecOps. I know it doesn't come with the SpecOps, so who makes it and where did you get it?

I just ordered a SpecOps for my first shotgun today (talked to Larry, what a great guy!). It should arrive the same day that my 10 day wait is over. :p

Anyway, lemme know about that sling loop...very interested in getting one just like yours!

You're going to be amazed...

Shot two 870's with SpecOps on them.
A 12ga and 20ga.
The recoil on the 20 is cut about in half.
With Magnum slugs the 12 has the same recoil as the 20 does with standard slugs, Same for buckshot. By that I mean it has the same recoil as the 20ga with the SpecOps installed, which is the same as saying "not much".
With reduced recoil 00 Buck, the 12ga doesnt even feel like a shotgun. It felt like firing a blank. I havent shot a .410 in a long time, but that is what came to mind. (I should say that I was but a young lad of a mere 115lbs the last time I shot a .410)

When firing the shotgun, try placing stock against your shoulder and focus on holding the pistol grip still. The SG recoils and moves over top of the pistol grip. That makes a difference in felt recoil over tightly pulling the SG in against shoulder. Doing it that way, I could hardly feel the recoil on my shoulder.

Tried-out the specops stock today! Mounted on a Wilson Border Patrol 870! Shot fifty rounds from slugs thru #9 shot. No worries! With this stock, one can easily shoot 200 rounds or more of buckshot with no recoil trauma.

kraigster, being a lefty I was wondering about the lefty safety conversion, did you have it done or do it yourself and where did you get the kit? Thanks and congrats on a great looking shotgun.

Almost forgot! In relation to the specops stock install, what is the Blue #242 Loctite function? I never used it - but it was on the tools must have to install list!

It's thread locker... it keeps nuts and bolts tight, and from backing out. It should keep your stock from coming loose by keeping the bolt securely tightened in place.

Good question Toad, and thanks for the answer Chicken!

But would the loctite make it extremely difficult to switch between stocks in the future? Is the installation pretty much permanent if the loctite is used?

I haven't installed mine yet...still got three days to wait before I can pick up my 870.

Thanks,

Rhiannon

Goddess, exactly! That is why I didn't use the stuff.

The blue is not hard to remove.
The red is really hard to remove.
The black is... well... just buy another one.

Actually you can break down the red and black loctite with heat. The problem is that high enough heat melts or ruins just about everything except metal.
