I have to buy a safe tommorow. Can't explain why, but it must be tommorow. What brand would you recommend? I'm going big, or wide.
But BEST bang for the buck. Warranty. Security. Fire Protection. Overall good safe. What would you buy good sir?!

I don't know squat about safes, but there are a couple of guys here that are locksmith/safe experts. I would do a search and PM them directly for some advice.

Price Range?

Tex,

What's yer price range and how many pieces does it have to hold?

Mine is a wide, sectioned, 14-gun locking (uses key) CABINET for $350, but mine is just to keep the kids out. If you need boogie-man protection, you'll want something heavier that can be bolted down.

You can get a good-sized, heavy-duty, fire-resistant safe, this site should give you some comparative data on capacity versus price:

What's available to you locally will vary.

Also, we've had some recent threads that address safes.

I recently purchased the largest RSC that Academy had, it's a Liberty made by Cannon. It is supposed to hold 28 long guns but that would be a stretch. I am very pleased with it. It was the best deal I could find for the price (around $750.). but that's Just my pennies.

It sucks having to get it RIGHT NOW. I'd call and visit every sporting goods store, Wal Mart, and locksmith in town. Buy what's in your price range and bolt it down.

I also purchased the American Eagle by Cannon from Academy. 31 cubic feet for $748 + tax. It was the best bang for the buck that I found.

I think people make 2 mistakes with gun safes:

1). they wait too long to buy one (usually AFTER they have lost some guns) -
Like Me

2). They buy too small - Me again.

A couple of thinks to consider:

1. Will it fit through all openings required to get it where you need it?

2. If it is a true safe, or a higher end RSC it will be HEAVY. Is the floor you're putting it on made to handle that much weight?
