If anyone with a an AK that has a bayonet lug could take some close-up pics of the lug, I'd appreciate it.

Mine doesn't have the lug, so what I'm thinking I might like to try is putting some JB Weld on there and filing/cutting it to the right size/shape, just for kicks. Think it'll work?

On another note, what kind of end attachment will allow a bayonet? The one I've got now is not a brake or anything, just a collar that covers the screw threads and is silver-soldered on. I should be able to get it off without TOO much work if I need to.

Thoughts? Advise? Pics?

Thanks,

Packman

JB Weld will never support a bayonet especially during a charge. ;)

Tromix used to make bayonet lugs for Saiga conversions. They have one left here. Only 150 dollars

Heh. I wasn't really planning on CHARGING anything, but I'd like to be able to hang a pigsticker on there just for looks.

Thanks for the pic. I'll play with it and see what happens. According to the package, I could use JB Weld to fix a 20 ton hydraulic jack! or a cracked Caterpillar engine block! or a cracked kitchen disposal! or even expensive stainless steel cookware! It'll do anything!

Heh. Doesn't hurt to play around and see what happens, right?

What about taking some metal and filing it down slowly until it fits. It would be better than JB Weld. JB Weld will not hold up for long.

I bought a kit a few years ago to put a bayo lug on a Neutered AK.
You can drill and tap it or mig weld it in place.
Paid like $30 for it.
I'll see if I can find the link.
Or I'll sell you mine, if I can find it.

I have 1 AK with a Bayo lug and 3 w/o.
The kit seemed like a good idea when I bought it, couldn't care less now.

I just looked at Kvar. Interesting. I'd prefer not to have to remove major parts from the gun. I like to tinker, but I don't really have the facilities here to take off the front sight/gas block just for a lug.

Picard, what you said intruiges me. are you talking about the metal on the bottom of the gas block, or some other piece and then attaching it to the block?

Karl, what do you have to do to attach the kit? I'm not really willing to take off the front sight or anything for it. Is it just something that attaches to existing parts?

Thanks for the replies, all.

packman, can you post a pic of the end of your barrell? I'm not sure what you are starting with so it's hard to help.

Ok, here's a pic of the gas block. I know it's huge, I'm sorry. I can't size it down and still attach it. There seems to be an error somewhere between the chair and keyboard.

As far as the front sight, I've got a standard barrel collar on there, it's just been soldered or welded on. I think I could cut through that with a dremel if I needed to.

Ok, here's the front sight. You can't see it in this pic, but on the very bottom, just above the cleaning rod is a dot of solder or weld or something to keep that nut on there.

You drill and tap the block just under the cleaning rod in your first pic.
You can also weld it.
It comes with a 4-32 screw, I think.
I'm installing a New Gunsafe in my Garage so it's a little cluttered.
I'll let you know and post pics when I locate the kit.
