i need some load data fo 34 and 35 grain 223 loads.

I have some Midway "Varmint nightmare" 34 grain JHP (which I beleive are the old hornady SX bullets) and some 35 grain v-max bullets and I want o load them in my 223 to see if it shoots well for an upcoming prairie dog hunt. but i cant find any loading data for these bullet weights.

I need some help ladies and gents and would greatly appreciate it.

That will cover IMR, Hodgdon, and Winchester powders and loads. If you can't find it there, then it's not gonna be found !!

Do you mean Midsouth "Varmint nightmare"?
Midway has the "Dog Town" bullets.
Anyway, go to www.Hodgdon.com or your manuals and use the loads for 40gr bullets. The bullet weight is close enough to give you the velocity and perhaps the accuracy you need and be on the safe side.
Work up your loads safely.

what twist rate is your .223? because if its very fast like 1:9 or so, you are likely to be spinning the bullets apart at very high velocities...

its a remington 700, 1-12 twist, should be fine, just need to know if using the minimum load data for the 40 grainers will be safe enough to start with,

I would start a tad under the max for 40 grain bullets.

Lyman #49 has load data for the 36 gr Varmint Grenade.

Most accurate load is shown as:

AA-2015 - 26.5C - 3547 FPS - 51,700 CUP.

But they show 12 suitable powders, with a couple giving over 3,700 FPS at less pressure.

MAX LOADS:
Benchmark = 27.7C = 3,736 - 51,300 CUP
BL-C(2) = 30.2C = 3,723 - 50,600 CUP

Loads like that scare the beJesus out of me!

The pressure spike has got to be off the charts with a fast powder like Blue Dot!

The only primer I ever blew was playing with Blue Dot and the .22 Hornet, and I blew the L out of it.

There is a THR member who swears by Blue Dot in the .223 though.

I load 35 gr Hornady vmax, and use 28 grains of Varget or BlC2 and set the bullet just kissing the lands- No signs of pressure to date.

RevolverMan567, if you would read the posts, you would see that the advice was to use the data for the 40gr. bullets at the Hodgdon site. They have loads for BLC2. use the recommended starting load for the 40gr and you should be safe and probably have a little more velocity than is listed.

I just got a box of the 34 gr Dog Town bullets from Midway. I think I'll load them with BLC2 and H4895. I like Varget but seem to have more trouble getting it in case mouths under .243. I had looked at the Hodgdon site before Googling and had decided that since most loads were the same for 40 and 45 gr bullets it would be reasonable to use that data for the 34 gr.
