I need some suggestions for mouse guns

A semi auto of any shape or size is completely out of the question with her hand strength, because it would cause numerous malfunctions and the slide would be very hard to work.

What about a Ruger .22 semi auto, such as a 22/45 or the Mk I, II or III? The bolt on those is pretty easy to retract and the trigger has little weight to it. Though the Single Six is a pretty good suggestion too. Sounds like if she is going to go with a gun at all in her weakened state, a .22 is probably the best place to look.

Sorry to hear she likely won't be getting better. Best wishes...

i would go with the lcr.

1) by far the easiest DA trigger i have felt on a snubby.

2) .38 special is a perfectly acceptable defense round.

3) if recoil is still an issue, the lcr can be had in .22lr which might actually be a better choice in this situation.

4) no slide to worry about with a revolver and operation is dead simple.

It seems to me that the benchmark for whether or not a "weak" or "feeble" elderly person should or should not carry as more to do with their mental capacity than their physical abilities. Would you recommend that a disabled younger adult in a wheelchair, for example, not carry due to the risk of the weapon being "taken" from him by any "self respecting" thug? Of course not.

Those without sufficiently capable judgment to determine the appropriateness of the use of force in defensive situations should not carry and must rely other resources for protection. Age has nothing to do with that, nor does physical limitations, within reason. Everyone has the right to defend their lives with lethal force if necessary....as the lives of others are as valuable to them as ours is to us.

Back to point, it is simply a matter of trying a number of options until one emerges as a good fit. And then there is the practice and the education and the committment to acting responsibly....same as for the rest of us.

I like the way you think. Hopefully gramaw.. nevermind. Also, it's "German Shepherd Dog".
The German's don't like being called shepherds..

God bless you for trying to help! I have a Beretta Bobcat 21A in .22; the first shot is DA and pretty heavy. Maybe she would have no problems is she pulled the hammer back and shot SA? Also http://www.corneredcat.com/ is an excellent resource for ladies. Good luck!

You gotta do what it takes I guess. I saw on utube some guy loading and firing some 9mm semi-auto pistol with his feet and he was doing good. He had no arms, may God bless his heart.
