Of those I've had and sold that are in the category you're interested in, the Paras were OK, but fit and finish wasn't even as good as that of the Taurus. I really liked the M&P, only let it go because there was a special gun I wanted that came up for sale, I needed the cash, and I figured I could always find another M&P. The XDm was also a good gun, but my brother shot it way better than I ever could, so I sold it to him.
I'm a big CZ fan, and I like my 97 quite a bit, but because of the front to back width of the grip, it's not gonna fit everybody. Gotta have big mitts for this one.
I really like my FNX 45, but it is BIG. Best description I've heard was that it's "...like RoboCop big." Great shooter, love the capacity, but it's not real easy to find holsters for.
It's the one I recommend.
