First time with an XD 40

I am looking at XD 40's for a possible duty pistol, so my friend let me shoot his. All of my pistols are 3 inch barrels and the xd 40 was a 4. I can't believe how much of a difference a 4" is over a 3. I shot 2 full clips at about 2 shots a second and put almost every shot in a 3 to 4 inch grouping at 25 yards. I was extremely impressed. The recoil was very smooth.

I have a little question though. Do the XD 40's with a 4" barrel shoot similar to the new xdm 3.8 40's? I can imagine they would but I cant decide if the extra money is worth the xdm

i personally prefer the xd over xdm, my xd service model in .40 has over 21k rds through it and still running strong. as far how it compares to the 3.8 i have no idea.
