We are so very sorry for your loss. There are no words that can be written to express the heartache we feel for you and your family. May God be with you all.

DHart,
I am truly saddened by your loss. I'm an active duty Army officer and know first hand that we lose many great men like your son, SPC Rao. It may not ease your pain, but his sacrifice will not be made in vain and has been for the highest of causes. Your son had pledged to lay his life on the alter of freedom and has paid that price, and you and your family should hold your heads high with pride. I wish you and yours the best.

Deepest sympathies from me and my family. I will pray for you, your son, and your family often. The sacrifice both he and his family has made can never be repaid by a grateful nation but we can offer our support during this terrible time. Please continue to keep us updated, as talking about it helps even though it's hard sometimes.

Your friend in Christ, Craig.

I went to church today, and actively prayed for the first time in 9 years...for Elijah. Someone I never even knew or met, I pray he is in a better place.

Sharon & I are overwhelmed by the outpouring of caring support you all have provided. This is such an incredible community of wonderful people! You all have shined such brilliant light into our hearts... we cannot thank you enough for your kind, generous, and thoughtful posts... as I mentioned before, I've read them all, now some many times over. In the coming weeks Sharon will be able to spend more time doing so as well and I know that she will be overwhelmed yet again by your gracious humanity.

I will make another update or two as time goes on through the week. We have learned in the last day that Elijah John-Miles Rao has infinitely more friends and admirers than he had any idea of.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Don & Sharon

You have my sympathy and my sorrow. May God give you strength and peace to help you through these difficult times.
One of the hardest duties to perform is "knocking on the door" I will never forget having to do just that.

Dhart, knowing the extra you do to take pictures of your guns and the expertise you have shown in your knowledge of guns, I can imagine that your son must have been a squared away soldier and my condolences to you and yours.
God Bless and SemperFi.

... I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom ...

Deepest, most sincerest, condolences on your loss and that of his wife and new born.

My prayers are with you and your family.

I just found out that my nephew was injured ( broken hip and leg, burns over his left side and lower portion of his body. He is currently in Germany and will be flown to the burn center in San Antonio after he has stabilized.
He must of been in the same Humvee as your son.

Please except our deepest condolences, and let his mother, wife and child know that his sacrifice will not be forgotten by the Stevenson family.

You and yours are in our prayers, Alex
