I sure got a hell of a nutty response from my State Senator

That guy is odd. Just read his Twitter stream. 90% of his focus seems to be on legalizing cannabis. The gun tweets are the usual "assault weapons ban worked great". "99% of people want strict gun control". and the occasional ad hom.
I'm sorry for anyone in his legislative district :(

Maybe I can replace him and give the district the Liberal (well Scoop Jackson) Jew they deserve. ;)

Unfortunately, I'm one of them...

Looks like it's a waste of time to write him, but I might anyway.:banghead:

At the least you should get a personal response.

The arrogance as much or more than the idiocy is what bothers me.

"I do not make decisions on how I vote on important public policy matters based on who will or will not vote for me"

We elect them to represent us, not their own ideals.

The letter is basically saying, "I don't care what you have to say...don't bother writing again"

The guy sounds like a crack pot. Living near Richmond, I know that crap pots get voted Richmond City mayor all the time....same for DC mayor...Marion Barry anyone?

At least when I sent an anti gun control letter to Mark Warner, who has said he supports an AWB, when he sent a reply to me, it didn't even mention an AWB. It only mentioned Mental Health and enforcing laws we already have. It also thanked me for my time in writing him and encouraged me to keep writing.

"Yuck" seems a bit extreme. Why is it young kids have to be so foul mouthed when "icky poo" would have worked?

I guess he doesn't understand what being a representative actually means, huh?

That line should be grounds for relieving him of his duties.

I don't bother arguing with idiots any more, I say my piece in the voting booth and make those around me aware of such ignorance from our elected officials.

If I were to respond to him at all it would be a copy/paste of the oath of office he swore to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Actually, I am more angry with the idiots who put these fools in office.

A lot will depend on how much mail this legislator gets on the subject, and how much of it is for or against.

With a few possible exceptions legislators of all kinds, and in all offices are most concerned with getting reelected. Second most important to this is getting money to fund getting reelected. Obviously this one doesn't think there is enough voters in your district or state (depending what the office is) to have a negative affect on his staying in office.

So distrubte copies of the reply in places where you can generate mail. One Senator in Texas who is on our side said his mail was running 9 to 1 against the Obama proposed new gun control. If that happens to the legislator who is the subject of this thread he might have second thoughts, if not he may have to plan what new job he will be looking for after the next election.
