I was cleaning my S&W 629 this morning and happend to notice what looked like a deep scratch. Upon closer inspection I believe it is acctually a crack:fire:

Can you guys take a look and see what you think. The pics arn't that great but best I could do with my cheesy cam.

frame crack

How is S&W about these kinds of things the gun was bought used. This wasn't there when I bought it either. It has only been shot about 60 times sense I have had it. And the only rounds have been Winchester White box 240gr jacketed soft points

This is the best I can do for the pick

Tammara you are correct. I jumped the gun:D I saw the what I thought to be a crack in the hammer recess and got all excited. Didnt bother to look at the whole thing before I got all bent out of shape. Thanks everyone.

I don't think so Jason:D I must take this whole thread as a lesson never over react. Look closely at everything and think about it beforeI post something that makes me look like a freaking moron.

Don't worry peetmoss .. i too have panicked on certain things before realizing I was a tad premature!!:D

A suggestion tho ....... with close up pics of gun parts etc .... I assume you use a digi cam ... well, unless you have manual focus control ... take the pic from further away and then crop out just the bit you need ... even tho pic will be smaller .... it will stand a better chance of being sharper.

This pic was off my L1A1 breech .... yet to get the ramp smoothed off (copper deposits showing from bullet tips whacking this and then getting distorted!) ..... here, I not only set to manual focus but backed off ..... then cropped what I needed. Just an example that came to mind - tho off topic.
