You guys. . . I done it again. . . I got the bug. . . need me a new pistol. I was thinking something for the trail. I was thinking of a Taurus Judge. Stagger the chamber with .410 and .45 Long Colt. The .410 for the coral and rattle Snakes, the .45LC for the mountain lions and black bear. Thoughts on my choice for the purposes I want? Thoughts on whether or not the Judge is a worthwhile purchase? Any and all explanations are welcome, the more info the better.

So you drank the koolaid, I do not like the Judge and I wish that Taurus would have kept the original 45 Colt version of the Tracker with the 4" barrel and the normal length cylinder.

I use a stick to move snakes out of the way and I avoid bears and Mt Lions will succomb to 357s.

So you drank the koolaid,
Always funny to see a Jonestown reference.

I agree, not much use for me either. If I want a snake load, I'll carry some snakeshot.

Ah well, it seemed like something worth checking into, best of both worlds kind of thing. But as for a snake gun what do you guys reccomend? As for the larger critters I've got a 1911 in 10mm so I'm fine with that.

Thing is most folks have no idea where that came from.......

And I agree on the pistol - interesting concept, and I suppose if loaded woith 410 00 buckshot and 45 lc, could be a decent HD/SD gun

I think that if your shooting is so bad that you need 410 buckshot to hit a bad guy, you probably should be practicing more.

I think the one thing the judge does well is shoot glass balls out of the air at a trick shooting event. But Wild Bill retired and I haven't seen many openings for that kind of position lately.

worst part is it wasnt kool aid in complete fact it was a knock off brand

i own a judge and i hate to admit it but it really is a gimmick (at least to me) although i cant say what it would do on snakes because since i got the darn thing i havnt seen one yet and that was the whole reason i bought it in the first place...

now that i think about it its doing its job of snake repellent very well dont see any tigers either lol

CCI snakeshot in multible calibers. I have it in 357 and 45lc. My first shot is snake and then it's bullets.

i like my judge.i use it for home defense and as a range toy,it does both jobs well in my opinion.

when i sleep its in a holster by the bed loaded with a 3"mag 4shot round and 4rounds of the fed 4pellet ooo round.

if i have to use it(hope i dont)ill give a account of it.based on my knowledge of firearms i belive it will do nicely.

id recomend the 3"mag version for payload and versatility ymmv

.44 Spl with rat shot and 240 Gr SWC's is what I carried on the trail where snakes were prevalent.

I am not a big Judge fan either, but I am sure they would do the trick.
