This morning, I asked her if she would like to go to the range and shoot a little. She has not enjoyed shooting very much since her corneal transplant. The procedure was needed because of damage from an eye infection. She sees multiple images with the eye, but at least she can see and the horrible pain from the old scarred cornea is gone. It's sad really, because I taught her to shoot after we married 30 years ago, and she really misses it at times.

She decided to give it a try. She started easy today by putting 40 rounds through my CZ 452 American. I set up the rack of 24 steel silhouettes at 25 yards and encouraged her to just plink away at her own pace. I had four loaded 10 round mags at her disposal.

She picked off the last standing critter (of the 24) with her 40th round.

After a reset, she took out a couple of rows with my open sighted Remington 552. Wow, open sights too.

Very encouraging. I asked if she was seeing multiple images and she said she was. I told her, "As long as the crosshairs or sights are on all of them, just squeeze off the shot." It worked.

Thats impressive, her shooting that well with the eye condition, she sounds like a trooper.

Took my wife to the range today, too - she hadnt been able to shoot her pink 10/22 for the last 9mos due to carrying our son and us not wanting to take any chances with his ears - so she was excited to get it out. She actually asked me if we could go shooting today. I would have cleared just about anything off my schedule to make time for that! Range was really busy and the only range that didnt already have a few people on it was about 20 yards. A bit shorter than I like for rifles, even for her, but I brought my Single Six and dot-sighted buckmark too so we still had a good time shooting steel targets.

Funny I'm reading this. I just told my wife today she needs to come to the range with me next weekend.

Your wife did quite well. Glad to see the women getting involved. That's got to be tough with that kind of sight picture. GOOD FOR HER!
