Ok guys, I took the Red Pill this time. I just received my new LNL AP EZ eject and I’m already thinking about the Blue for my next. I have Lee carbide dies for the following.

380 acp 357 mag 9mm 40 s&w 44 mag 45 acp. I know I have to get shell plates to fit them, my question is can I use my Lee dies and what other accessories can you think that I my need to get started before I place an order. I am not sure if I need to purchase Powder through expanders or not Lee has them already in my die set. Also, should I purchase extra LNL die Bushings and leave them on for easy die change over, so each set of dies has a LNL bushing on it, or is that not necessary, I’m thinking it is not necessary. Also, I was thinking about another Powder Measure, for the smaller charges so would not have change out assemblies. Basically, the Lee Dies 1. resizes and deprimes 2. Flairs mouth and feeds thru charges 3. Seats OAL 4. taper crimp. I looked at this machine today and found it to be built very well, however here in Ga. no one carries the Dillon, I my have changed my mind if I were to review them together, appreciate all the input, I am excited,

Yes you need separate PTX dies for each caliber. Or you can use this which I prefer for convenience and easier adjustment.

Yes. You don't have to, but it's really nice especially on the powder measure where you can pop it out and adjust the PTX and pop the PM back.

Don't bother. It won't help much. Get a pistol rotor with a micrometer insert. The rifle and pistol rotor assemblies switch out with a push button. If you're just going to load those pistol calibers, leave the rotor in place and adjust the micrometer stem.

Joe, It came with a pistol rotor as an accessory, If I change over to the smaller rotor would that cover all the pistol loads? I just found all the shell holders at Midsouth. Thanks Bill

It should. It might be a little small for the .44 Mag. If so, change back to the rifle rotor. When you've got the shell plates, you're good to go.

The changeover from small pistol primers to large takes a couple of minutes. Figure 5-15 minutes to change calibers once you've got everything setup.

The one thing I am not sure about is the powder feed process as to what was supplied and what I currently have with the Lee Dies. With the Lee classic 4 hole the flairing and the powder drop was in the same station, how would I configure that set (flair and charge) for the LNL set up?

The Lee powder thru expander only works with the Lee Pro AutoDisk. For the Hornady you need these. The .357 should work with the .380, 9mm and 38/35. You'll need a .430 for the .44 Mag and a 451/452 for the 45ACP. Or you could just get the universal powder thru expander I mentioned earlier. The universal PTX has the advantage that it's always in the powder measure setup so you can't misplace it.

Red Pill Blue Pill

It almost sounds like your question was about switching from the LNL to a Dillon. They are both great machine but they are different and fit different niches on the loading ladder.

Dillon and Redding dies have a a tapered leade in line up the brass when you're cranking away. I don't know that other manufacturers so accomodate rock-and-roll progressives. I don't know that you really need the leade but i do know that Dillon puts it there.
