I want a Beretta 87 Target!! Any opinions?

Well, I just traded in my Ruger Mark III (nice gun, but didn't have the it factor for me) on a Benelli Supernova tactical. I now need another .22 target piece.

Beretta 87 Target is a callin my name. All reviews point to a well built very accurate gun.

Any owners/previous owners want to share their experiences? My only main concern is that no one in my area has one for me to handle. I have large hands, and the standard cheetah is a tad small (albeit the 87 target has a mag extension that extends the grip).

I owned one briefly. Accuracy was adequate for a target pistol, as good as my Buckmark Target, not as good as my Buckmark silhouette.

Great feeling gun. I bought it because I like somewhat less common .22's and got it for a great price ($475 used)

I did later sell it and wish I had it back.

i remember reading up on the 87 target and some have complained about the trigger--it's not adjustable, is it?

No not adjustable from what I've read. Some people complain about the over travel. Supposed to be accurate as all hell though.

I've had one for several years and shoot it regularly. Had some issues breaking it in as it would not fully return to battery, but the hammer would drop and it would fire out of battery with all of the fireworks and molten brass associated with process. It needed to be cleaned every hundred rounds or less. Now, with a couple of thousand rounds through it, it doesn't FTRB any longer and the cleaning interval is whenever I feel like it.

The trigger overtravel is pretty awful. I've seen pics of mods that owners have done to back-up the trigger with varying kinds of mechanical stops, but haven't tried any of those fixes. Looks like they would work, but I've gotten use to the excessive overtravel.

I shoot it with a Burris red dot, and like every other pistol I own, its more accurate than I am. I added the factory wooden grips which look great and help a bit with the shootability. Excellant fit and finish. Made in Italy.

Yeah the factory grips will fit the bill nicely! they look nice and the thumbrest looks functional.

Are the wood grips wider than stock?

I didn't use the standard factory grips very long, so I don't recall whether there was any significant difference in overall grip thickness. Don't even remember where I put them now, otherwise I'd check.
