Well I finally ordered the 87 target I have been lusting over for a year now. I wanted one about a year ago when I was looking for a nice target .22, but nobody had one, and I found a nice Ruger MKIII comp. that I liked. Turns out I did not like it that much (due to the trigger, not disassembly), and I traded it for a Benelli Supernova Tactical with GR sights. Then I had am empty void in my soul for a .22, and my fav store's distributor finally had a 87 target in stock, so paperwork is submitted and I will have it next Saturday!! Not bad at $750. Retail price went up another $50 for 2010 to $880...

Can't wait... pics and range report to follow...

I've had one for a couple of years. I use it with a Burris red dot, and fitted it with the factory wooden grips. Its a fine shooter.

Mine was pretty stiff for the first couple of thousand rds, to the extent that it wouldn't cycle completely if it got even a little dirty--like 100 rds after cleaning. The slide wound't return completely to battery, but the hammer would drop when the trigger was pulled. Most of the time it was a missfire, but occasionally the round would fire out-of-battery with all of the fireworks that process involves. Beretta was not helpful in resolving the problem.

Now that it is broken-in, its been very reliable. It still gets a lot of "looks" from shooters at the range wondering what the heck it is.

Great gun, but this thread needs pictures. Here is mine.

Very accurate gun, easy to shoot well and lots of fun at the range. My shooting buddy has one also along with a bunch of mags so we tend to shoot a lot of bricks of ammo when we go out.

I went to Bud's in Paris, KY to see about a Mossberg 930SPX, and $630 plus tax later I had the pistol I always really never knew I wanted, Beretta 87T, and a $60 Beretta shirt thrown in. The pistol has been a very good shooter for a .22 autoloader, like most it has an occasional problem with hollow point ammunition. I use the "holosight" from my SIG 556, its good enough for now. Love the 2 stage trigger, and the service pistol look and feel, great Steel Showdown pistol.

Thanks for all the info!!! I have wanted one of these for over a year, and cannot wait to take delivery. I will def post pics upon receipt...

I have owned a couple of other 22 pistols; buckmarks, S&W 422 and a ruger, but my Beretta 87 target has been the one that I loved. I can shoot an entire brick of 22 shells and not expect any jams. By far my most accurate pistol. If I could only have one plinking/target pistol it would be my 87 T. (I did have a couple jams when I was breaking my pistol in maybe 7 or 8 but now I can realistically expect a jam about every 1500 rds or so)

Same here! I had been hunting around for a Kadet conversion for my CZ 75 but then I came across a barely used 87 Target that is still under warranty and snapped it up for €500 (they're around €700 new over here in France). Can't wait to take it to the range. Post some pics of your targets if you get the chance!

First time I field stripped it I discovered the joys of that damn spring :cuss: After it shooting across the room a few times I got it back on the slide... only to have it bind on the guide rod so I couldn't get the gun back together :banghead:

At any rate it's a nice shooter but pretty stiff. I had about four stovepipes on a box of 50 SK standard plus and a few soft strikes as well. Only happened once one a box of 100 Remington target though, so I'm putting that down to the ammo and crossing my fingers that it breaks in.

Another thing I noticed is that "counterweight" must weigh all of 5 grams. Just there for looks. But what a look :)
