I won a raffle today

I was at a local gun show and there was a gentleman from the friends of the NRA selling raffle tickets for an XD-40 to benefit the local 4-H shooting sports program. He called me and said that my name was drawn and I won!

I have been wrestling with what gun I was going to buy in a .40 caliber for several weeks now, I guess the issue solved itself.

I bought a $20 raffle ticket recently for an FN FS2000.

Its not exactly my idea of the ultimate carbine, but it is sort of cool looking.

I think it comes with one magazine, and spare mags are like $60 a pop, but I think they will use std m16 mags as well.

Congratulations !! You have the luck that my son has. He was at a Ducks Unlimited banquet and bought several raffle tickets ($50-$60 worth, I think) and won a Franci O/U 20ga. and one of Benelli's auto-loader shotguns - an $1100 gun, I believe.

Me? I won a pocket knife about 40 years ago and have bought hundreds of dollars in raffle tickets. Oh, well.............. someone had to pay for the Franci's and the Benelli's! ha

Actually this is the first thing I have ever won. I am very happy. It is a very good cause to donate to (FNRA) , and it's for the kids.
I Hope it shoots good. I'm going to pick up a couple boxes of ammo on my way home today.

I won a door prize at a company Christmas party once about 5 years ago... the cheapest VCR ever made. But hey, I "won" something. My co-worker, a young guy, has "won" something at least every year somewhere. I've bought hundreds of dollars worth of raffle tickets from every kid on Earth.. but JohnnyBoy just keeps on winning... a rifle a year from White Tails unlim, a couple of shotguns from Ducks Unlim, a 22 here, a Weatherby Mk V there. Even a Yamaha snowmobile from some club's raffle. If JB enters, he's gonna win something!

I picked up the gun last night and had a very good conversation with the genltleman. We talked about guns, gun laws, family, scouting and all kinds of things. Enjoyable meeting.
I may even go to the friends of NRA banquet in my area.

Also, I bought more raffle tickets, for a Remington SxS 12 ga shotgun. You never know.....

I won a Mossberg 935 once on a $5 ticket. I ended up trading it after only a couple boxes for a Marlin .30-30, which I now feel like I got for $5. Yeehaw! Winning raffles rules.
