the sign says nothing about concealed weapons, it says no weapons at all. The law says that all signs posted must be obeyed.

You will not see a sign specifically stating no concealed weapons. They will all say no weapons or no guns. The would include all methods of carrying as being forbidden on the premises.
If you can't understand that the sign placed at the door means that the property owner forbids anyone from carrying a weapon upon their body into the store then maybe you shouldn't work there.

Light Storm:

Technically your interpretation of the law may be right though I doubt it. If you search further you will probably find something similar to the Oklahoma law regarding private businesses and home owners which basically exempts them from the type of interpretation you've made regarding the use and handling of firearms on private property in regards to the CCW or other firearm laws.

Regardless - I doubt if it was the intent of the state legislature to make it illegal for employees working in a gun store to handle guns if the business is posted. I also doubt that any DA (they're busy guys) would bother prosecuting an employee or a customer for handling an unloaded firearm in a business that sells firearms even if it is posted - DA's have better and way more important things to do (most of 'em anyways).

My advice - give it rest. If you're just looking for an excuse to quit then do it but quitting based on some really, really stretched interpretation of the law is bogus.

The sign stats that no "possesion of firarms, weapons, or dangerous ordinace" is allowed in the building. By most deffinitions, when you are holding a wepon, it is in your possestion, so by picking up on of the guns that are for sale, i would be breaking the law.

The sign is just telling you not to enter if you are armed..if you ignore the sign and enter you can be charged with criminal tresspassing, if you are caught...Ohio's CCW law does not govern what clerks in gun stores do as they do their jobs, in a "posted" store, or otherwise..It only dictates how and where it's ok to CCW..

If what you are reading into the law was there, even the store would be in violation by even stocking the guns in the first place.

IANAL, but it seems pretty clear to me that the law in question doesn't do what you say it does.

Sec. 2911.21. (A) No person, without privilage to do so, shall do any of the following:
...
(4) Being on the land or premises of another ... negligently fail or refuse to leave upon being notified by singage posted in a conspicuous place or otherwise being notified to do so by the owner or ocupant, or the agent or servant of either.

1. as an employee of the store, you "have privilege to do so"
2. as an employee of the store, it does not count as "the premises of another"
3. doing your duty as an employee would be hard to frame as "negligence" which has a rather technical legal definition

Just curious, does this store sell carry guns to permit holders and then prohibit them from carrying? Or do they just sell Kerry guns? (the kind with two barrels and a separate case for the price tag).

I am still wondering if this is for real or if it's a joke.

Sorry but I really don't care about or have time for stupid folks. Folks got a right to be wrong, stupid or both. (sm THR 05-06-04)

When nobody is looking take the stupid sign down and shred it. See how long it takes anyone but yourself to notice. I bet no one does. That way, when ATF makes it over there they won't have a beef. If your lame employers figure out the sign is gone, plead ignorance.

Don't quit.
