Hello there folks. Well last Saturday I finally got to take the IAI M1 carbine I got for Christmas to the range. It was rough going at first, I had a few failiures to feed with a full magazine. The problem went away when I didn't fully load the magazine. I shrugged and chalked it up to the newness of the rifle and kept shooting. I had just finished my first box of Federal FMJ rounds when I switched to Wichester SP rounds. The accuracy seemed to improve a bit, but after about 11 rounds of Winchester the operating slide slipped off of the bolt assembly and locked back. I unloaded the rifle and put it away at that point. I got it home, field stripped it and cleaned it. No parts appeared to be broken. After a thorough cleaning I put the rifle back together and all seems to be well. Cycling the action by hand seems to work ok, but now I don't trust this rifle. Has anyone out there had a similar problem with an IAI M1 Carbine? Any insight into this problem would be appreciated.
