About 2 months ago, I ordered some very expensive items from one vendor. The idiot FedEx driver left it right out on the open porch I guess, and it got stolen. At least, I never saw it. The vendor resent everything they had in stock the second time, and still the dumbass driver just left it out there again, but this time, I'm lucky enough to be at the corner of my block hanging a left turn when he drives around the corner, so I went to the end of the block made a U-turn and got back to the house in time to see him getting back in his truck. He says, "no signature required", and drives off. That was four weeks ago.

Two days ago, he's back with a digital camera asking the same questions I've already answered for their rep over the phone about the first stolen package. THAT rep says, "the first missing package is such an expensive claim that it's been red-flagged at the regional-level meetings". I'm sure. Anyway, like I said, the other day, that same dumbass driver takes his pictures proving there's no place to hide deliveries, so he can file his own report, and leaves.

Today, lucky for me, I go outside through the front door, which is a real rarity--we might go out the front door once every two months. And what has this lazy jerk of an idiot done today?? He's left another item on the porch, not even bothering to ring the doorbell. At least UPS will do that much.

:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Do you have a digital camera? Take three pictures. One of the package sitting there unattended. Another of of the doorbell. A third of you sitting in your chair, or whatever.

Call up the rep that called you, or just call their hotline with the tracking number handy, and complain about his laziness, and offer to forward the pictures, properly anotated to indicate you were home during this latest package drop off, and he didn't even ring the bell. Don't know if it will get anywhere, but calling them might help get rid of this guy, and sending them something tangible that they can put in his file that indicates he didn't ring the bell might be useful.

Also, if there is a place to hide deliveries, such as around back, behind an air conditioner, etc. give them another photo.

P.S., in college I had a computer that was similarly dropped off. I griped at them, and the deliveries got much better after that. Your guy doesn't seem to learn from experience.

i dunno how regular fedex works, but my brother just started working as a contract driver for fedex ground. they have a weird pay scale. part of it is based on the number of packages delivered, number of stops you make, that kind of thing.

according to him and the drivers that trained him, they really dont care if packages are signed for or not. once it is entered in their little doohickey as 'delivered' they are as good as paid.

when packages end up "missing" and there is no signature, the most the driver can be forced to pay is $500. supposedly, most packages reported to fedex as 'stolen' or 'undelivered' are actually not missing.

uglymofo, maybe the reason why your fedex guy doesnt care is because he is one of these contract drivers. they are under no obligation to abide by fedex standards.
in any case, you should complain to his supervisor as more complaints will eventually get that guy fired.

I am feeling the same way about fedex, my wife and I have had several problems lately, and just this past monday a gun I bought online showed "on truck for delivery" on the fedex tracking, showed "failed delivery" at 9:00am(the gunshop doesn't open until 10 am), then it says "delivered to address other than specified recipient". No signature, no nuthin.
So my gun is at some unknown place, and I can't even find out anything until the gunstore opens. I head down to the store and my ffl has the gun(thankfully), it was delivered to the flower shop next door:rolleyes:.
My ups guy won't ring the bell, yesterday he left a cz kadet kit on my front doorstep without ringing the bell, luckily I went out that door and found it before leaving for my swingshift.....tom

Lets' see uglymofo, did you request and pay for "signature required" on the package delivery or did the vendor pay ship it "signature required" as part of normal shipping? If not, the driver isn't a dumbass. He was doing his job.

The drivers don't hide packages because when they hide the packages, the idiot homeowners don't know the packages have arrived and even if they do, they can't find them as they are hidden.

If you order something to be shipped to your home and you don't request and/or pay for 'signatrue required' or it isn't standard shipping policy for the shipper to ship in that manner, then don't blame the driver for not playing hide and seek with you. The error is NOT his. If this problem bothers you because the items were expensive, then maybe you should have made better security arrangements.

If you did pay for 'signature required' and the shipper did not ship in said manner, the problem is with the shipper. If the vendor shipped 'signature required' and the driver didn't follow the rules, then the VENDOR is responsible for handling the situation since they shipped it they should be jumping all over the shipping company.

I see this over and over on the forums complaining how they ordered ammo from Natchez or Ammoman and the 'idiot' driver just left, I mean they JUST LEFT ammo right there on the front porch and doesn't the driver know better than to leave ammo out on the front porch? It comes as a shock, but Ammoman's price is shipping to YOUR door and there is NO mention of a signature being required. Natchez will allow you to choose your shipping method and most folks go with the cheapest ground version and it DOES NOT ask for a signature.

If you want it delivered in your hands and want to complain about things NOT working that way, then you have to order, pay for, and make sure the vendor ships the item "signature required." Otherwise, don't blame the driver for a security problem that is not his fault.
