Detectives find kidnapping suspects shot inside a car at the McDonald's in the 4000 block of Tampa Road in Oldsmar late Sunday night.

OLDSMAR – Detectives are investigating a kidnapping that ended with the victim shooting two of the suspects, killing one of them.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says three men kidnapped another man at the Aday Motel located in the 500 block of Bayview Boulevard Oldsmar about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Detectives say it all started with a dispute over stolen coins.

Detectives say the suspects forced the victim into the backseat of their car, and when one of the men put down his handgun to send a text message, the victim grabbed the gun and started shooting. He shot the suspect in the back seat with him, and then he shot the suspect in the front passenger seat.

The victim then ordered the driver to stop the car, got out and called 911.

The uninjured suspect drove the car to the nearby McDonald’s in the 4000 block of Tampa Road.

Detectives say McDonald’s employees saw the wounded suspects in the car and called 911.

The wounded suspect in the front seat was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.

The wounded suspect in the back seat died at the scene.

No one else was hurt.

Detectives say charges are pending against the surviving suspects. The State Attorney's Office will review whether the shooting was justified.

Im pretty impressed that he was smart enough to shoot the guy in the back first.

Good Job!

This proves the Brady theory that if you have a gun, someone will just take it from you and use it against you.

It sounds like the victim already had some firearms experience since he had the clear mind to do what he did. Whatever it was, he did what he had to and came out alive. I sure hope they don't convict him on anything.

if things are like they appear to be (from the article) then i say he did very well, i cant imagine what it must be like in a situation where you are scared enough to shoot and kill someone but im glad he had the clear mind to do it.

That...is just awesome. It's like it was from a movie.

However, am I the only one who thought about this...what if the gun was either A) fake or B) not even loaded? That is to say, what if the unloaded/not real gun was just to get the guy to comply? He'd have been in for a surprise if that trigger pull didn't send anything out the other end...that would have been a bad deal.

Not criticizing at all, the guy is a badass for what he did...just an observation.
