Hi!

Bought an ooold Ideal No 55 measure here the other day and to tell you the truth i really didnt expect much out of it because of its age, and the fact that it had surface rust on the inside of it. But man.. Was i wrong or what:D

This thing throws the Norma p4 5.5gr charge within 0.05.. Most of the time its dead on, and it doesnt even cut any powder. Thats more what i can say about my Hornady LNL measure..

The hopper is abit cracked though, does anyone know if the Lyman 7000gr hopper fits the threads of this old Ideal measure?

The old Lyman 55 measure is a good one. Ever hear of a Culver Conversion. Mr Culver made an insert for them. It was one of the first measures widely used by Benchresters.

I'm fairly sure there is no substantive difference between the Lyman and the Ideal.

The Lyman on my bench has been chugging along for better than 20 years now; it has the same surface rust inside as your Ideal, and it's just as accurate and reliable. I've had half a dozen other measures through the years and the Lyman keeps getting clamped back onto the bench. Some things just don't need to be "improved".
