Hi guys,

I need a little advice. If I am not allowed to post this, just let me know (this is not some kind of spam crap). I am creating a new website. The website and information I am putting on it is all free. I am attempting to make this site something like Slick Guns with the best gun deals only have more stuff like a blog, free downloads of stuff and more. Right now I have some free armorers manuals and things like that. Would you guys be willing to take a look at my sight and give me good constructive feedback about what I could add to make it better or any other ideals you might have? If anyone would be interested in writing some blog articles, let me know. The site is www.bestgundeal.com

Thanks

Very well made, on the home page i would list a couple of the most recent deals or make them more easily accessible. You could also move the deals section to the top or middle of the page instead of the bottom. Good luck

I'd definitely fix this typo.

"You can search for deals by category by using the menu at the top of out home page."

And as already said, I'd move the menu to a drop down in a bar across the top or left side of the page.

For starters I would like to know what caliber that is in the header. The ballistic coefficient on that thing must be insane!:D

First and foremost, you need to find your niche. With blogs, it's better to be as specific as possible vs. broad. This may seem counter intuitive, but that's the advice given by pretty much every web developer who specializes in blogs. I would take a long, hard look at ar15news.com. They're a good example of a blog that found its niche. They announce new AR15 parts, and that's it.

Second thing is SEO (search engine optimization). The vast majority of your hits are going to come from organic searches, so this is important. Key to SEO, above all else, is content content content. This is where having a narrow instead of broad focus is going to help you out. Search engines look for streamlined, cohesive content. If your site is all over the map, then it's unlikely to come up in searches. Remember, people search for specific things, like "cheapest price on 7.62x39," as opposed to "cheapest price on ammo." Search engines also see correlations, so let's say your site is all about deals on combloc stuff. The engine will know, in its own way, that x39 is combloc ammo, and will see that your site is all about combloc ammo.

After that, there are some things you can do to automatically boost your rank. Basically, these are prerequisites. If you don't have them, Google thinks you're an amateur and puts you at the bottom. You need a sitemap, an SSL certificate, a copyright in the footer that is not Wordpress and has the current year, a terms of use, and a privacy policy. And don't forget to submit your sitemap to Google!

You also need social media integration, to where anyone who has FB, Twitter, Google+, etc. can comment, sign up for email alerts, etc.

You also want to be very specific in your titles. Remember, people search for keywords, so figure out what the keywords are, the searchable words, in every post you make and put as many of them in the title as you can. Make the title of each post as clear as possible, so that anybody who reads it knows exactly what that post is about before they read it. Also make the body of each post as dense in keywords as you can.

I would also update your theme. You need a white background with black text. Your navigation is also very confusing. Use tags to organize your content instead of creating categories. You should only have one category anyways.

When choosing your niche, I would highly recommend finding something that creates its own content. Again, look at ar15new.com. You need to have people submitting content to you, rather than you creating it. Otherwise it will wear you out.

Might I suggest: "Use the menu at the top of our home page to search for deals by category."

By the way it's a site as in a place, not sight as in vision, or related to firearms, an aiming device.

Web site, location, place
gun sight, aiming item

Sorry, to be picky, but one thing that turns me off on blogs and sites is poor spelling. It comes across as unprofessional, and in my opinion, detracts from the message.
