Hey guys - I have been working a lot on my website, http://gunsxchange.com, and I wanted to get some opinions from you. It is a 100% free gun classified site, and I have been working to make it the best one out there.

It is still new, and only gets about 700 people a day, but it is growing. There are not that many firearms listed, so do not be disappointed if you don't see something in your state :(. I am constantly working on it, and if anyone has any feedback to help improve the site and make it easier to use, let me know.

Dealers are welcome to list all their inventory, and I will be glad to help you out if you need any help loading it to the site.

Thanks guys

I only spent a few minutes, but is there a way to keep your current state set so you are always browsing within that while switching categories?

Face to face sales in-state are more convenient and cheaper in most cases, and I just assume limit my browsing that way, unless I'm looking for some collectible relic, etc.

Thanks

Right now, there isn't a way to do that. Would a page that lists all guns for all categories for a selected state be good?

Looks good. Sure have a lot of people from Plano...

But definitely allow the user to browse only a certain state, maybe even city. I would love a firearms "Craigslist"

That's a sharp looking site. Any chance you might add an accessories section where someone could post things like preservation bags ?

Actually, yes. I just finished adding the Optics section, and I will be working on adding more like reloading, ammo, and accessories.

I'm thinking of having a section where it is just strictly Miscellaneous items. Anyone think that's worth adding?

Very nice layout. Clear and very simple navigation. I hope you can get your listings built up. I'll see if I can't get some pictures tonight of a couple I wouldn't mind parting with.

Looks like a very nice site. Professional and easy to use.

I like that its not a bidding system.

My advice is advertise to as many forums as possible to get more traffic. Of course, it would be best to ask permission from the staff/moderators of said forums first.

There's a site like that in my area that I pretty much utilize exclusively. www.midwestguntrader.com

It started out as a local-only gun trader website, but it has since expanded to other states. It's very popular in my neck of the woods. I've bought and sold probably a dozen or more guns on there.

I like the layout but when I search, the site might indicate 5+ pages of results, but I can't see any. Is it your site or is this a PEBKAC error?

I think I know what you are talking about. Does the page you see say "Sorry, but the page you have requested is not currently available or has been moved."?

I'm working on fixing that...some reason the search is messed up right now

Same thing keeps happening. I can view frontpaged listings, but the search shows no results.

That is probably because there are not any guns listed yet. there is only a mere 135 guns listed so far

But definitely allow the user to browse only a certain state, maybe even city.

I'll work on making it so you can drill down by state only. I'll see how I can implement drilling down to cities.

I wouldn't mind a search option to look at all ads in a given state. Having it broken down to rifles, handguns, etc is nice, but a 'search all' would be nice for those who just want to browse.

It's called armslist.com.
Yeah, I've been there before. I know they exist, but I just want something that's even half as prevalent as the actual Craigslist. All the ones that exist now just don't have very many listings, especially in Austin where I go to school. Whenever I go back home there's a good amount, but still nothing to to drool over. :(

Hopefully I will have everything done by middle of next week so it is easier for people to navigate through the ads locally.

It has been a couple weeks, and finally got some improvements loaded to the site. On the homepage, you can now select the state you want to browse, and browsing all ads in a state is much easier.

Still a few things that I am working on like search, etc, but just wanted to get feedback on the new update.

Cheers

Good site. Functionally it's better laid out than both Midwestguntrader.com and Armslist.com. I also like that you can browse by the type of rifle/pistol/shotgun (AR-15 Rifles, Beretta Rifles/pistols, etc).

Now all we need to do is get the word out and get people posting.

good site. bookmarked. did find this entry a bit out of scop for the site

1910 Mauser Werke for Auction
which closed in nov. who is responsible for closing ads?

How is the site funded?
