Bicycle, that is. Wife and I are about to get some nice Comfort Bikes (high-end hybrid bikes that are 99% of the time for riding on paved trails and sidewalks). I was thinking of a fanny pack, since I live in FL and don't think my usual carry method (Fobus paddle holster with button-down short sleeved shirt over it and a t-shirt loosely) - just don't think that would work or be comfortable.

Any other ideas? I use a Glock 26 with the mag-extension to use Glock 19 mags.

I ride w/ a funny pack. I think it's just the ticket for a bicycle. It probably looks less out of place on a bicylist than it does anywhere else.

I ride a lot, finally worked out something I can live with. I usually carry a Walther PP or Mod 1922 Browning, I have an appropriate Uncle Mike's holster on a 1" strap. I place the secured gun in the small of my back and tighten it up with the buckle up front. Then I place the waistline of whatever I'm wearing up over the gun, then tuck the shirt in over the gun into the waistband. Result is its secure, out of the way, concealed, and I can get to it very quickly.

I carry a P229 on each hip, each in a Galco OWB concealable holster with an untucked shirt covering. Using a good, wide leather belt holds everything securely. I prefer this arrangement to a fanny pack for several reasons:

1. Allows one handed draw.
2. Comfortable.
3. Guns not flopping or shifting around.
4. Easy, quick access to both primary and secondary.

I have on my Hy-Bird bicycle (Diamond Back, Cross-Country) a saddle bag that attaches to my front handle bars. It's nylon, small, lightweight, two zippered compartments and waterproof. Only problem you have to stay with the bike at all times since it cannot be locked. I bought it 6 years ago and is very durable and still looks new as the day I bought it. If you don't planning getting off your bike during your ride this is the ticket!

You'll find a lot of discussion recently over in Strategy and Tactics where everything from how do I carry a gun while riding to what sort of non-firearm weapons can I carry for dogs.

Be sure to carry on your body if you're carrying a gun. Getting bumped off the bike or having the bike stolen out from under you with your gun on it would be a drag.

I think I'd look for some way to carry it that attached to the bike. I had a low speed crash on a motorcycle a few weeks ago, and came down on top of my pistol. I was lucky and didn't damage the gun very much, just a few scratches but I can see where it might have ruined the gun. It did leave a big bruise on my hip where I came down on top of it. I now carry it in a storage box.

I know you probably never crash your bicycle, but I never had my motorcycle either. :D

Just something else to think about.

There are many options. If you are considering a fanny pack then you might consider the new camelbak fanny pack specially designed for CCW. It is less likely to get noticed than some other packs.

Going to give the Safepacker a try and see how it works. May try out the Civilian Products as well, but they seem a bit too small for my Glock 19 and not particularly suited to CCW. May also try out a Fanny Pack eventually if I carry something bigger than a Glock 19 or if the Safepacker interferes with my bike riding or is uncomfortable.
