I just took a sks in on trade . don't have my digital camera with me or i would post some pics... Just curious if anyone would know where it was made by the serial numbers on it...... There is a serial number ontop the bolt and one under the trigger guard.... both of them are A1147 no other identifying marks that i can see anywhere on the gun.

I believe that serial number falls into the Sino-Soviet Chinese rifles. The Chinese built the rifles with Russian parts. I have one. The serial number should be on the left side of the receiver also. Mine has triangle 26 next to the serial number on the receiver..,chris3

the country it was imported from should be stamped or engraved somewhere on it.

sino soviets were made in china with some russian parts. They're made to the Ruissian pattern so that is the first good thing because some of the later chinese commercial guns had some shortcuts and substitutes that, while still servicable, are considered less durable.

The second good thing is that they are less common than skss that are russian or chinese so soe collecters will pay a little extra just to fill that niche in their SKS collection.

cool post! just used the link 2 find out what my sks is its a sino also. mine is the short barrel model not sure if thats good or bad

since you never mentioned about your receiver serial number, this is the one that counts the most in terms of determining if its a true sino-soviet. but your bolt and trigger guard seems like the real deal, look closely on the receiver and look for the same numbers ase these, let us know.
heres a pic. of my sino-soviet, left side of receiver. Early style of serial numbering found most often on soviet-supplied chinese sks receivers--Arabic sequential number followed by the factory designator, a number in a triangle

forget to mention but my receiver# matches the bolt, but not my trigger guard.
