Mat - the 10-6 is early '76. The 14 is 1959.

Racing Jake the 686 is about 1984 I think. They started in 1980 at "AAA" and went up from there.

103 - 1969.

Lunker: a) the 28 is from 1973 (assuming it's "N161xxx" - there are too many digits in your post).

b) the .22 dates to 1948

c) The 25 is from 1978.

Nice set of irons.

Geezer That's about 1987 I think.

Titan - that's going to be very early, like about 1901 - first couple years of manufacture (the model started in 1899). It has been rebarreled as the barrel number reveals. The internal lockwork will be somewhat simpler than the post 1905 ones, but very similar.

Thank you. I've got one more:

a) .357 Mag
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle) 4"
c) grips shape square
d) number of shots 6
e) type of sights adjustable
f) serial number 54K7231
g) Model number 19-4 Blue

GunsnHarleys - sorry yours was skipped. That is going to date to about 1918 +/- a year. Very nice it has the original grips, even if the finish is poor.

Geezer - the 19 is from 1979. Nice gun - very handy. I'm still 8 or 10 years away from converting to a Geezer glide myself, but I do look forward to it - they are sweet over the distance!

'rod - that is about 1970, pretty certainly that year.

titan - yes, it does somewhat, but probably bigger detractors are going to be if it has original grips and if it has the original finish, and how much of that remains. The re-barrel was with a contemporary one, which offsets that a bit.

Help me date a S&W Model 10-5?

Help determining age and model of .38 SP Revolver

Dear Sirs,

Please let me know what you can about this fine weapon handed down to me by my Grandfather.

a) .38 SPC
b) 5 inches
c) square but, with checkered design, no ring or ring fill in present
d) 6 shot
e) fixed (half moon front, notch in rear)
f) under the barrel is B 3932xx, the number also appears on the cylinder, and bottom of square grip.
g) the yoke has the number 15883

FYI, the top of the barrel has "Smith & Wesson, Springfield, MASS USA patented Oct 8,01, Dec17,01, Feb 6, 06, Sept 14, 09, and Dec 28, 14.

I have had the gun 10 years and finally fired it a few days ago. It is a fine weapon and I enjoyed taking it the range.

thanks,

Mr. Gold

After looking at some other post with similar guns I have learned a few things

1) Serial number indicates a model 1905 4th Change made from 1915 to 1942

2) Mush room shaped ejector rod indicates the revolver would be made prior to 1930

3) Absence of "Made in USA" stamp on right hand side of gun" indicates it is prior to May 1922

Can anyone confirm or deny if this info is correct or "internet BS"

ThanksYou have found about all I can tell you it was made prior to 1922.
