My friend showed me what I'm pretty sure is a 38/44 heavy duty. It's got a ~4" barrel and the ejecter rod is shrouded and serial # is S1487xx.
Any help with ID and DOM would be appreciated.

mavracer:
1955 or 1956. Serial range for those years was S140000 to S149999 so 1956 seems probable. If it has fixed sights it is a .38/44 Heavy Duty Postwar. If it has adjustable sights it is a .38/44 Outdoorsman.

can anyone tell me what this revolver is?

It appers to be a 32 caliber, revolver 6 shot, it has 1990 stamped on the bottom of the grip where the lanyard would attach, It has about a 4' octagon barrel, with proof mark that appear to be 2 crowns and a horseshoe?

Around July 1987. Serial numbers in the AVBxxxx and AWWxxxx ranges shipped that month. Being an uncommon barrel length your gun may have sat on the shelf for a while.

The 29-3 was produced from 1982 to 1987. It lacks the Endurance Package design changes, so limit the use of full house magnums if you want to avoid timing issues. The numbers under the crane are assembly numbers used to track parts in the factory. They have no meaning after the gun is complete.

Your Model 30 .32 Hand Ejector was manufactured sometime between 1957 when model numbers were introduced and 1961 when the -1 change from the I frame to the J frame occurred.
Postwar production ran from serial number 536685 in 1946 to serial number 712954 in 1961. Based on roughly 12500 guns per year being produced during that time 1960 or early 1961 seems certain.

a) Appears to be a .38
b) three and a quarter inch barrel, unsure if it's including the cylinder but there is an included video.
c) unsure what to classify it as, see video
d) 5
e) Looks standard for a top break S&W
f) 286739
g) Unsure

Hey there, this is wade. The revolver I have has a three and a quarter inch barrel. The serial numbers on the butt plate and cylinder are 286739. The last patent date listed on the top of the barrel is Jan 3 82. I believe it's in .38 caliber. Thank you in advance for your help. I can't seem to figure out how to attach pics through the YouTube messaging, so let me know if you have any idea how I can get you some pics

.38 Double Action 3rd Model manufactured between 1884 & 1895 in the serial range 119001 to 322700. Serial number 264116 probably shipped in 1892, so 1892 to 1895 is the time frame.
Caliber is .38 S&W, blackpowder only loading.

gb6491:
Your K22 Masterpiece was manufactured in in 1955. Serial range was K231256 to K266164.

Sealevel:
Your model 15-4 Combat Masterpiece was manufactured in 1980.

smlake:
Your Model 36-1 Chiefs Special three inch heavy barrel was manufactured in 1981.
Your Model 38 Airweight Bodyguard was manufactured in 1983.
your model 19-3 Combat Magnum was manufactured in 1975.
Your Model 686 Distinguished Combat Magnum Stainless was manufactured in 1983. There is a recall out on this model, with some magnum ammo the primer can flow back into the firing pin bushing, locking up the cylinder. Under the recall S&W will pay shipping both ways, fit a new firing pin and bushing and stamp an M near the model number in the cylinder yoke cut out. If your gun has the M stamp then it has been modified. If not and you wish to have it modified, call S&W and they will send you a shipping label.

Radagast, thank you very much for providing the manufacture dates on the above four Smith & Wesson revolvers. Also, I really appreciate you providing me with the information regarding the factory recall of the model 686 Smith. I was unaware of the recall and will be contacting them.

Sealevel:
1971 or 1972 for that Chiefs Special Airweight. I'm thinking 1971, that was the period with the J 'floating' in the serial number. The range ended at 999j99. As your serial number is in the first third of that range 1971 seems likely.

Another one to identify please:

b) 4"
c) round
d) 5 shot breaktop
e) rear V / front thin blade
f) I68259
