I have an engraved Model 36 RB, 2" barrel serial #J888826. The owner states the gun is in stainless but inside grip on the frame is a circle with an "N". The engravers mark is in front of the trigger guard and is an "R" inside of a circle with a unicorn above it and moose horns on each side. The engraving is full coverage and the trigger, hammer and ejection rod are in gold. The grips are real bone but do not fit perfectly. I have photos but not sure how to post. I would like to know if anyone knows who the engraver is and if this was done at the factory or after market.

Howdy

I doubt your gold hammer and ejection rod were done at the factory. Hammers on blued S&W revolvers have always been Case Hardened.

Like this. Yes, the grip adapter is after market.
