All,

I wanted to invite anyone in the south Florida area to come and shoot with us at Tropical Sport Shooting Association. TSSA has been around for about 8 years now and is the largest shooting club in south Florida.

We host local IDPA matches 3 or 4 times a month as well as an occasional state level, officially sanctioned IDPA championship. We also have 3 gun matches several times a year in addition to rifle and shotgun stages at the end of most of our regular matches.

I just revamped the club's web site and it is chock full of information. Please go have a look over at http://www.tssa.net . We also have a forum board there.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Markhum Park

I'm deeply & honestly surprised that the range Nazi's at Markhum let you have any fun at all. I’m going to take a South Florida shooter to the Wilmington OH IDPA match this Sunday and hopefully I can return him to you as a usable sports shooter. I will keep you schedule in mind when I get down there this winter.

Yeah, well, we shoot over on the Sheriff's range all but Tuesday nights. We have an agreement--we don't bother them and they don't bother us. But you are right about those idjits over there. I have never seen people so hell bent on controlling everything that you do.

What does one of these matches entail as far as a new shooter getting into the game? Should I come to watch one first or just bring gear and ammo on the first time out? I live over on the other coast and your post sounded interesting. I use to shoot a lot of shotgun @ Markham park when I lived in Sunrise.

Just come out and shoot. As long as you are somewhat proficient with a gun and have a little experience drawing from a holster, you'll do just fine. If your only experience is just plinking at the range, one of the Tuesday night drills would be better for you but seeing as you are on the West coast, that might be a problem. Anyway, check out the website as it has most of the details. Fell free to come over one Saturday morning.
