If no Grandfather Clause. Are you giving up your AK/ARs?

Well, Thernlund, that remark will get this thread closed before long, but I feel the need to respond with a demand:

Define "kook".

Sorry, the George Washington quote is bogus:

http://www.guncite.com/gc2ndbog.html

And yet another bogus Washington quote:
A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government

The actual quote:
A free people ought not only to be armed but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well digested plan is requisite: And their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories, as tend to render them independent on others, for essential, particularly for military supplies.
---George Washington's First Annual Message to Congress (January 8, 1790)

There's plenty of good founders quotes out there. We don't need the liability of the bogus ones.

If they want my WASR10/63 (Romanian AKM) or Charles Daly High Power they can try and take 'em if they want to, but they should be advised I always keep at least one clip for each weapon loaded and I am strongly against the oppression of citizens, especially when it comes to taking away our means to defend ourselves. They should also be advised I think I'm getting ammunition for Christmas :D

Define "kook".

Ron Paul.

IN MY OPINION, gun folks who love Ron Paul for his gun owner rights stance fail to look the whole picture. The guy is out in left field on many points, foreign policy not being the least of which. He may be good at lots things. I'm sure he is. But I don't feel that being president would be one of them. I won't vote for him.

But this is off-topic and as you point out, it's a thread closer. I only answer you publicly because you respectfully asked publicly. Any further discussion on this should be private as such topics are rather combustible and frowned upon at THR.

For the mods... I won't continue this here. My apologies.

A Constitutional Amendment targeted at the 2A isn't likely to get ANYWHERE regardless if the Amendment is Pro or Anti 2A because the first step is to get BOTH houses of Congress to approve by a 2/3 Majority.

Second Step is to get it ratified IN CURRENT FORM by 3/4 of the states legislatures.

Thats just NOT going to happen given the current political climate.

I believe it is MOLON LABE.

Either way I dont think it will be any sort of uprising but a bunch of pissed off gun owners doing nothing.

They will all be saying... I should have voted for Ron Paul.

Hey Crazied, not entirely true. Ya got to register them. When
they thought there were hold outs, an offer to grandfather the
registration brought some more out, they slammed the door with
the newbies faced them with turning them into the police or sending
them out of state. Magazines of ten rounds (more) can not be
sold if they hold that 11th round. Many other related stuff marked
not sold in California!:(

Vote Ron Paul in 2008 if you want someone who wants to follow the Constitiution.

ONLY IF HE WINS! Otherwise votes for Paul are more likely to result in the election of one of those other candidates who absolutely does not want to follow the constitution. :fire:

Elect Ron Paul in 2008 if you want someone who wants to follow the Constitiution.

That's what you should have written. :)

Henry David Thoreau said “Under a government which imprisons unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison.… where the State places those who are not with her, but against her, — the only house in a slave State in which a free man can abide with honor.…"

Thats all I got to say about that.

Even if there is a "grandfather clause" in the next AWB, we need to consider
what it really is:

A way to get out of taking responsibility now by doing nothing and screwing
future generations.

What would our grandchildren think of us if they live in tyranny tomorrow
because we surrendered freedom for our comfort today?

They will curse you and rightly so.
