If you carry a handgun, you need to see this video

How about just telling me, in 25-words-or-fewer, why I "need" to click on that video? How will the content of that video possibly affect my carrying habits?

To answer a few of your questions...

1. The doctor doing the presentation is an Anesthesiologist, but he works in Trauma and has an excellent perspective on the differences in gunshot wounds that is worthy of note. He also appears to know something about guns as well, which is unique in the medical profession. The statistics he presents are very interesting, i.e. 6 out of 7 people shot by handguns survive. Not so with rifle cartridges.

2. Why watch the video? Because the information presented on what actually causes a stop to violent action and what can be reasonably expected from handgun caliber cartridges is worth thinking about. I was surprised by the data showing the relative ineffectiveness of handgun calibers. Not the kind of info you get from the bullet manufacturers or fan boys on the net. This is the real thing.

The MD aint present at the shooting.

So how can he tell us whether or not a "stop" was achieved? A dead body (or messed up dude) many minutes later is no indication (at all, really) of what happened the first 1/2 second after the guy was solidly hit in the chest, and that's what we need to know. We need to know about many such, with very similar loads, cause we don't want to base our gear and strategy choices on 1-2 incidents, which could easily be flukes.

I saw that video some time back. It does offer an interesting perspective without being TOO gruesome. The depiction of the injuries is presented in a typically informative manner by the Dr giving a presentation to a medical group. So it's no worse than watching a documentary of surgical procedures. And the information given along the way is very informative.

6 out of 7 survive.

Now if someone is declared dead at the scene and doesn't come through the ER where the Dr. works, wouldn't that figure be skewed a bit?

^^ This. Also,

I'm not worried much if my assailant fails to die; his death is not my goal. I just want him to stop being bad to me right then.

I saw this video before as well and thought it was a good watch but I didn't really learn anything. I already knew lots of handgun shooting victims survived and that rifle wounds were more fatal.

Umm.... personally, I want anyone I HAVE to shoot to survive....... IF I have to kill someone to stop a threat, I will, but I don't want a death ray and have no desire to end lives.

Everyone knows that rifle balistics will do more damage..... nothing new.

If I have to shoot someone you can bet I will shoot to kill. Dead perps can not testify against you.

The video may be interesting but I do not "sign in" for anything. My real world experience seems to be at odds with what I think the video is trying to get across plus you can not CC a rifle. Certainly a rifle is more deadly but as always shot placement is more critical.

Thank you sir. That explains allot on how I might have been kept alive. The Medical part is what was also interesting /2 Bad car Wrecks! I very much do so respect the doctor's who put me back together! And the lord!

I would too, but that does not reflect a desire on my part to kill the perp. Good defense tactics dictate that you shoot to stop a threat as efficiently as possible. That means shooting to kill. But that doesn't mean I wish death on someone even if they mean to kill me. If I stopped a perp and the scene was safe, the first thing I'd do is call 911 and get an ambulance on scene for that person ASAP.

The second sentence reflects a tremendous ignorance of legal ramifications, and is exactly the type of statement that anti gun advocates will use against us. It reflects a irrational mentality that devalues human life.

If you want to minimize the legal ramifications, heed the warnings given by these two. One is a lawer, the other a detective. Both basically tell you to use the Fifth Amendment and don't talk to the police until you've consulted with an attorney. It's long, but VERY important.

The video has been circulated for awhile, and is worth keeping in circulation. It will probably be ignored by people who say things like, "if you can‘t do it with 7 rounds/you suck" or similar. The big value points are showing this to antis to dispel myths, and reinforcing the message that handguns aren't death rays, and take time to incapacitate.

Frankly, no.

This video the OP refers to, is over 2 years past due.
I've seen it, those over two years past, and needed three cups of coffee, and the necessary breaks, just to get through this video.
This same video has been used by those with anti-gun sentiments and brain-washing.

I have a YouTube channel, non-firearms related, but do not see the need to watch this video. I can get more intuitive information from those that do all the gel and pork shoulder tests on all the different caliber ammunition.

The man is an anesthetist (old school word for this guy), not a DOCTOR.
This video just, ahem, put you to sleep, too.

Advocating self defense is logical and wise in a society where perps can attack you at any time.

Plus, if they are dead the possibility of a repeat attack is gone forever.
Advocating vigilante justice and taking human life intentionally, without due process is counter to the constitution and what it stands for. I believe that extreme measures and lethal force are perfectly reasonable means to use when stopping a threat. But making comments that applaud and encourage killing makes us sound trigger happy and gives anti gun advocates legitimate concerns that they can use against us.

The video just says what any firearms instructor worth their salt has been saying since every. Pistols suck, bring a rifle if you know you are walking into a gun fight. Step 2: Bring everyone you know with a rifle. If possible, talk someone into bringing something belt fed.
