I was in another thread talking about an expencive rifle and i mentioned that i could only own one if i were rich or hit the lottery and instead of hijacking the thread i decided to just start a new one asking

I guess it might depend on how big I hit the lottery.

But I don't play the lottery.

I also don't raise my consumption to match my income or my assets. I've chosen a certain lifestyle for a number of reasons. My income and my assets have varied and will continue to vary. My lifestyle will not be hostage to either. I'd do much the same stuff if I were to win the lottery -- just with even nicer stuff. Maybe. An occasional firearms acquisition is a nice thing. But there is so much more to living than piling up stuff. Even gun stuff. God, I had such an amazing night last night -- and it didn't cost a dime.

If I hit the lotto... gun purchases would be so far down the list that I don't think I could start a list.

Im buying one of those old decommisioned missile silos SAC has been trying to sell off in the middle of nowhere. No worries about shoveling ice or snow and no worries about crime or noise.

Nuts? Just maybe. There was at one time recently a real estate business converting silos to homes.

Depending on how much I won, I might consider buying a ranch in Costa Rica or maybe a small Caribbean island (is there any way to buy a sovereign island?)

Well, the dimension of the win would matter, naturally. But, mostly in defining how big the private range would be (need a hair more room for that 40mm bofors <g>).

I do know that time has changed some of my choices. But, not so many. The orders over to the Colt Custom Shop would be fun, though. Lil' things like a matched set of Officer's, Comander, and Gov't in Royal Blue in .38super <sigh> Be some BBQ gear while I was at it.

I'd likely make some folks at Ohio Ordinance happy, and TRW, too; well, and Liberty Safe while I was at it.

Oh, and a country place to host the BBQs on, too.

Without listing everything, I'll just say there would be three steps (assuming a Powerball in the tens of millions):

1) seriously collectible vintage military arms - examples of rare Lugers, original "sniper" Garand, etc.

2) many different examples of battle rifle, AR, AK, etc. (same variety with handguns, too) - with tons of ammo, in order to evaluate which single model of each would work best for my family and I

3) with the "evaluations" completed, "standard" weapons would be settled upon, and then a room full of racks of the selcted weapons would be acquired, along with enough spare parts, ammo, etc. to keep them servicable and fed indefinitely.

After I pay off student loans, credit cards, house, etc.

I'd like a rifle in these cartridges. Not too picky, just have to be modern, like the last 50 years, not any surplus junk.
6.5x55 Swede
.308 Win
.416 Remington
.404 Jeffrey
Something in .41 Mag

That's about it. Nothing too fancy. Maybe a .375 H&H Holland double rifle or the same in a Merkell or Kreigoff double. I just love the .375 H&H.

Oh, almost forgot, a complete cnc shop with complete schematics for each and every gun. This way I would be able to make all my own replacement parts, and not have to worry about avail.

If I ended up winning the lottery:

1. Sistema M1911A1 clone.
2. Mauser K98.
3. Enfield No.4 SMLE.

That's it. My dreams have come true.

I'd buy my own galapagos island, build a hut, become a hermit, import many firearms, and spend my days shooting coconuts.

I am very satisfied with what I have, but there are a few spendy items I would definitely go get:

1) Complete four-pistol, matching s/n Colt 1911 WWI commemoratives from the late 60's - the ones in the glass cases

2) Thompson .45acp SMG

3) Full auto M-16

4) S&W .44 special Target Triple Lock

5) Pre-WWI Colt Commercial 1911

I can probably do all that for $30k pretty quickly and then go buy a bigger truck, trailer, and more horses...

Move out of my current state of residence, purchase a Barrett 82A1,Have my picture of me taking possession in the NRA mag autograph and send copy to Sen D F,which sending magazine cannot be construed as threat, just rubbing nose in it.

my father fought at the landing of Iwo Jima. He was in the Navy, and was there to support the troops going ashore. Word got over to my father's ship (MULLIPHEN) that two radio's were needed to go to the beach. During the first hours of the landing my father was sent to the beach with only a fighting knife. My father returned safely. A few days later after the landing a couple of the higher ups heard of what had happened to my father. They aquired a 1911 and gave it to my father as perminet issue for the rest of the war. At the end of the war my father was going to bring it home until he noticed that the rucksacks were being searched for contrand, so he did what most were doing and pitching their stuff under a building as to not get caught. When my father was waiting in line and it was his turn to be searched his bag was picked up by by someone that had some pull and said that this bag is fine and sent my dad on his way. (they figured he still had his pistol) That would be my Lottery gun.:D

First off I'd buy enough land for a first class range including a 100 yard indoor. Then:
1941 Johnson rifle
Bren machine gun
BAR
Panzer Mk IV

I pretty much have all the guns I think I need, however wants are something else. I would want a 56-50 armi sport spencer rifle, and then thats it. I would then get into weapon development and build a reliable inexpensive 500 mag repeater since no one else seems to want to do it.

Buy a ranch for wife and self for horses.
Build 100 yard indoor range on property.
Build a workshop for building my own firearms.
Open a tack and gun shop called "Ponies and Pistols" and support both SASS and Cowboy mounted shooting events.

I can already smell the fun!

If I hit the lottery:

I would start my own line of "custom" firearms. We would supply holsters & ammunition (all manufactured on-sight), have an outdoor 500yd range out back (open 24hrs.), & a 50yd pistol range downstairs.

Everything "firearm" related would be carried in stock (incl. powder, primers, cases, bullets, dies & presses), & all THR/NRA members would only be required to pay $1 over Wholesale costs.

Of course.... there would also be a "watering hole" next door because we all know how thirsty we get after a full day of shooting. ;)

If I ended up winning the lottery:

1. Sistema M1911A1 clone.
2. Mauser K98.
3. Enfield No.4 SMLE.

That's it. My dreams have come true.
Lottery, heck you could do that with a $2 scratch card :p

I have this dream every few nights before I go to bed! I've been more of a handgunner up until recently, I've taken more of an interest in rifles. Of course this list fluctuates daily, but here goes......

Handguns

All of them

Rifles

All of them

Shotguns

All of them

LOL!
