Looking forward otthe 20090 season getting started here in WY. Anyone else here shoot IHMSA? What classes and firearms do you use? Will likely be going with my S&W 617, and hopefully some sort of semi by then as well.

IHMSA is a fun game! i helped a friend of mine run the state shoot here in IOWA several years ago.... it's totally amazing how well a guy can shoot iron sights and hit a target 200 yards off from the creedmore position... i used to spot for him at shoots and was also amazed at seeing the .44 cal bullets drop into the target ram... looked like they were dropping in from about 5 ft up but it wasn't that much...i miss going to silhouette shoots...... my friend used a TC CONTENDER with a custom chambered .444 marlin barrel but i don't remember the bullet weight....

LIFE IS SHORT.....

I shoot IHMSA often. Not as often as I would like...

I am shooting UAS with a XP-100 in 6.5 BR for full scale and 22 BR for half scale. Both are rear grip guns that have Lilja barrels, Anschutz triggers, and Leupold scopes.

Of any of the games I play, it is the most relaxing. Just lay down and start shooting. The time constraints are not real tight for me being an IPSC shooter at heart.

Now that our Sniper Matches and Steel Challenge Matches are over for the year, time to start up IHMSA again.

I shot almost nothing but IHMSA for many years, about 10,000 rounds or so between my wife and I. Lander had an active bunch but I am the only one left, I go out and shoot paper targets by myself, too far to travel for any of the Wyoming shoots. I shoot Sako and TC Contender in 7mm TCU and Ruger 10" .44 Mag.

It's spring time here in Minnesota, so it's time.

I shoot IHMSA here:

So far I've only shot Field Pistol. I use a custom 9" .357 mag Encore, a 7" .357 Mag G2 and a 10" .22wmr G2.

This year I'm going to use a .38 Super 1911 in our unnoficial 'repeater class'. There's a guy who shoots a .357 GP-100, and I hope to beat him this year with the Super.

It's a great game for those of us who don't want to do flips off a trampoline while firing a wonder 9.

I used to shoot it back when the club I was at actually had a program. The interest locally kind of died out so I really don't do it anymore.. that and my changeover to Run and gun in USPSA and ICORE.. though I do still have my scoped TC in 30-30 in case it does stage a revival.. :)

We shoot big bore the 2nd Saturday and small bore the fourth Saturday April through September at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club near Kingsport, TN.....Come out and join us...

I was smitten by the IHMSA bug in the early 1990s.

So much so, in fact, that I bought this pistol to knock over those heavy steel critters out to 200 meters.

After Elgin Gates passed away, it's as if IHMSA just imploded. I'm glad to see it making a comeback, but now my big Wichita pistol just thumps paper and whitetail deer. :(
