All the theaters in Cincinnati are staffed by kids, and a mere few of them at that. Increasing ticket prices to afford some semblance of increased security (because theaters won't cut into dwindling profits) will only assure fewer people patronize that theater.

This incident, however tragic, is statistically rare and probably wont change much.

are we talking about the mass shooting at the dark knight rises opening in denver, co?

Unfortunately north carolina bans carying into places that sell alcohol or charge admission, both of which movie theaters do. so here that wouldn't do any good.

With all of the recent U.N. gun ban stuff and such going on,... Be prepared, the Anti's will be coming out of the woodwork now. You know they have been waiting for something like this so they can shift into high gear.

This is exactly what I expect too. 'Remember, "Never let a crisis go to waste."

Not sure how many states this applies, but theaters are already prohibited by law in SC. "Just another" prohibited place shooting.

Both sides try to manipulate these rare, statistically insignificant, yet high-profile tragedies in their political favor.

You couldn't give it a day or two before we start a tactics thread on best seats for return fire and best carry mode for reclinable chairs?

Excuse me? Can you point out any single post on this thread involving that topic?

This could have waited a day until people know what's going on. We've referenced the UN and boycotts already. I think you know what I mean.

Nope, I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. You said that, and I'm paraphrasing, but I think your intent was to say we shouldn't be discussing the best theater seats for return fire? I still don't see that topic being discussed on this thread.

I'm saying we are focused on how this affects us. Will we be able to carry in a movie theater, will the media distort get things wrong on the gun, will it lead to gun control etc. I think we are a lot less affected by it than the people killed and wounded. I think that's clear.

Wasn't my intention to get on the high horse, I got caught up thinking about what a parent must feel like to go to take their kids to the movies and lose that kid to something senseless like this.

And I wasn't trying to be confrontational, I was confused as to what you were trying to say, you clarified, I thanked you for it.

Let's all get back on topic then.

"Any place that requires an admission fee to be paid for entry".
I believe that's NC, not SC. I've re-read the statutes published on the State Law Enforcement Division's website pertaining to Concealed Carry and don't see that restriction.

That brings up an interesting point. Do you actually have to pay a fee to enter the CINEMA?

Because I believe I have to actually walk inside, and enter the premises BEFORE I can pay a fee for my ticket.

Sure, but you need to give the kid your ticket to get to your theater, at least around here. I don't think the guy walked in through the lobby, but who knows anything at this point?

I know that restriction was in place in SC when I got my CWP years ago, but sure enough I can't find it anywhere on the handgunlaw.us page right now. Maybe it got lifted in SC or something.

I think that Schumer, McCarthy et al will be doing their normal thing, but now it puts everyone else on the spot. No one wanted to talk about guns during this election cycle, and now they will be forced to.

Does anyone think they will install metal detectors in theaters? (Are they already in some theaters?)

Does anyone think they will install metal detectors in theaters?

You know? I just don't think so these days. It's expensive. It needs to be staffed.

Most importantly? By taking overt security measures, is the theater then responsible for their patrons safety? Litigation varies by state, I'm sure.

That is why I am wondering. A victim's family sues because the theater failed to provide adequate security to the patrons, they throw in some metal detectors in response, etc.

Does anyone know if CO allows carry in theaters or if this chain could have restricted them at this theater?
