Illegals shocked as judge actually puts them in jail
Texas jurist locks up offenders, deports them instead of freeing them
with 'notice to appear'
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44630

A judge in Texas is shocking illegal aliens in the Brownsville area by actually jailing them and making sure they're deported rather than simply letting them go with a "notice to appear" – most of which are not honored.

The Brownsville Herald reported U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio is getting tough with illegals caught crossing the Rio Grande, telling a group of Honduran immigrants last week to warn their buddies back home.

"I want you to tell all your friends in Honduras that if they come through Brownsville, Texas, they will not be paroled into the system, and they will be put in jail and deported," Recio told 18-year-old Jorge Enrique Vasquez Carrasco in open court as he handed him a jail sentence that could keep him locked up until space opens at an immigration facility and he is deported.

Under the typical scenario, illegals are issued a notice to appear, at which time they go on their way and begin their new life in the U.S. Federal statistics indicate 88 percent of aliens issued a notice don't show up for their hearings. Border agents near McAllen, Texas, have nicknamed the summons "notice to disappear" because they are so often disregarded.

A nearby Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center contracts with county jails when bed space reaches capacity.

"There is not a limit on how long a federal prisoner can stay in a county facility," ICE spokeswoman Letty Zamarripa told the Herald.

Zamarripa said criminals and detainees from "nations of interest" such as those that support terrorism are give priority when moved from county jails to federal facilities.

"We are removing detainees everyday," Zamarripa said of immigrants being deported from the facility. "We have two flights a week with room for 120 on each flight in addition to two buses leaving each week."

Nathan Selzer with the Valley Movement for Human Rights said "undocumented" immigrants, who he believes are committing "non-violent and victimless crime," are being put in danger when housed in the same jails as "real" criminals.

Selzer said U.S. immigration policy needs to be reformed.

"But that's in the hands of President Bush and Congress and they refuse to do so," Selzer is quoted as saying.

Bwahahahaha.

Did anyone hear about the AG in Idaho that is suing potato farmers that use illegal labor to recoup costs to the taxpayer? It was on NPR this weekend.

I think the ball has finally started rolling. Took long enough.

This was posted by a member here a few weeks ago I believe, I think it would go well with the last statment in that article.

beerslurpy, do you have a link to that story, sounds like good reading.

I noticed they're cracking down a little more around here too. Just the other day they arrested most of the cleaning staff at the hotel where my friend works. Ironically the manager will hire new American people, only for them to quit after 2 days. :banghead:

Anyone notice the judge is hispanic? Guess that will make it hard to cry "Racism!" ;)

To the liberal/left, you're only hispanic if you're a liberal/left hispanic, only black if you're a liberal/left black, only a woman if you're a liberal/left woman, etc.

Great story.

Meanwhile, GM is going to fire (oh, excuse me, RIF) 25,000 Americans -- 17% of their US workforce -- any guesses what percentage of those jobs end up in the NAFTA and CAFTA ballpark? :fire:

Illegals shocked

Mr. Fox of Mexico is probably shocked also. We got to run that Judge for President in 2008. Speaking of which,I got a letter from the RNC today asking for a membership renewal and donation. I wrote on the form letter that came with it, when the President and the Republican congress start doing something about our Borders send me another letter and they'll get the donation. Money drives politics and holding back on these people just might get them to do something for our Country and stop worrying about what some other 2 bit countries say about us.

What will that judge do when the Brownsville jails are stuffed full of illegals which the Federal government refuses to do anything with, and more keep swarming across the border?

I am tired of hearing that illegals are doing the jobs Americans won't do.

They're doing the jobs that we used to do when I was 13.

I grew up picking corn, citrus and watermellons for a local produce supplier.

A couple of summers I worked for a lawn maintainance company. One summer I was a laborer for a framing contractor.

Kids don't do these jobs today, not because they are Nintendo abductees but, because they are prohibitted from doing them by child labor laws.

We weren't forced to work we did it for fun and sometimes played hooky from school to pick corn in Apopka

I'll never forget the sense of pride the first time I drew man wages at 13

$125 for just one weeks work, and tht actually was more than alot of men made at the time

jnojr,

That's not logical. We can't know what he will do. And that's assuming there will still be a problem. It's funny how once you start reacting and carrying out what you say, how a problem can disappear.

Take capital punishment. If they would execute swiftly you'd suddenly see a lot less people in jail. Not because they are getting executed, but because it would behave as a deterrent, and keep the not so bad ones honest.

Right now we just pass a bunch of stupid laws, because the not so stupid laws don't work. In both cases it's because we only make laws. Ostensibly we don't enforce them.

Joab,

I agree. There is a lot of stuff I did as a kid that today people would get reamed for.

And those stupids laws on the books were put there for the exception, not the rule. Now it's become the rule, not the exception.

We shoot ourselves in the foot, and it's our own fault. We deserve it.

I say just reboot. Shutdown America and restart with the original Bill of Rights. Let's see where that gets us. Worked the first time.

I am tired of hearing that as well. They are doing jobs that the employers get to pay crap wages. Stop the illegals, directly and go after the employers of illegals.

Problem solved, no illegals, employers will be forced to pay decent wages for crap jobs. It wont happen. No one, republican or Democrat wants to take on this problem. The invasion will continue, and anyone that talks about putting illegals in jail/deporting them will be labled a racists. I am glad this judge is doing what he is supposed to do, althouth his actions amount to putting a finger in a damn that has about a million other finger sized holes in it.

Verwy, verwy quietly behind closed doors in locked offices politicans (you know, those responsible for this mess) are beginning to realize they had better get on the correct side of the criminal alien fiasco. Though quiet, this is of major importance simply because the political element of the ruling class hears footsteps from behind. As I understand it something like a half dozen bills are about to introduced ranging from militarizing the border through to pushing a house over on business owners who hire criminal aliens. What seems to have cause the tip was the militia's efforts in Arizona. Up until that time the ruling class said nothing could be done to stop the flood. Never mind the incestious relationship among the politicans who say nothing can be done, business owners who benefit by nothing being done, and criminal aliens to are the stooges of the ruling elites. The militia demonstrated in public that something could indeed be done. So rather than keep up the "nothing can be done" manta, they start singing another song, "Me first, I was the leader in stopping . . ."

Watch what Hillary does. If the tide is changing (and I think it is) Hillary will be out front blasting spinelessrepublicans for doing nothing.

Yeah Hillary is already testing the "hard on illegals" waters since a few months ago with her rhetoric about the ID cards. She could have made it about terrorism or drugs or guns or whatever, but she went right for the illegals as issue number one. She is gonna win in 2008 unless the republicans get their stuff together and start producing results.

Sorry about not posting the link Vernal, I was at work all day.

And I completely agree with Joab about the jobs americans wont do. I have a friend whose friend is a roofer repairing damage from the hurricanes last year. He is netting about 400 an hour from his contracts because he pays out about 10 dollars an hour to mexicans working for him. He could still pay americans 20-30 dollars an hour (which would be exorbitantly high for FL and you would get people lined up around the block to do that kind of work) and he would still rake in millions.

I think the RICO suits are a hugely good idea. Follow the money and punish the people at the root of the problem. When rich people start going to jail for feeding the problem, it will go away almost overnight. Almost everyone would rather make 800k in a year safely than make 1.2mil and risk jail time. I still support deporting the illegals, of course, but the problem wont be solved until we crack down on the employers.

I would like to make one change to my comment.

Any illegal should be granted immediate resident status if they are willing to work as a roofer in Fla.

I did that for a summer when I was 17, my shoes literally melted on the roof
